Colletti makes a lot of sense.

Pictured in the article: not the Dodgers core.
Screw the Mets’ core — they’re good, though question marks persist about each one — get some real f’n players around them and everyone will stop talking about transmogrifying our set of players to the Phillies’ set.

I'm not really sure what you're implying, in regards to Coletti's comments, and the Mets...?
The Dodgers need pitching badly, though. If we could somehow trick them into taking maybe Pelfrey/Maine and Nieve, or something like that- two decent, somewhat solid, young pitchers- for Martin, that’d be cool. He had a down year in pretty much every offensive stat, he’s going to be expensive and they’re getting short on cash, and his general theoretical value is down a bit (it’s not like he’s ever was a young Mike Piazza, though).
I don’t have confidence in Omar to possibly fleece another team with such a deal, though. I could see him being the person being fooled by another GM in a deal like that, though.

He said that the Phillies core is older than ours, so I take that to mean .....
that as the Phillies core ages, and our comes into their “prime” ( 29, 30, 31) age, it will be our turn.
Mostly…..I am just trying to stay optimistic, which is a first for me.
Did it really?
I randomly brought up that point in another thread, totally unaware that was what the article was trying to get across…D’oh…

Martin
has to go to the Marlins first. That’s how we get our catchers – Dodgers → Marlins → Mets → Heartbreaking playoff loss.
