Least Shocking News of the Weekend
I'm not sure if this quote refers to baseball or extra-marital affairs:
"ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said Sunday night the network determined Phillips' ability to be an effective analyst was 'significantly and irreparably damaged.' "

So basically
ESPN is reporting that ESPN baseball analyst Steve Phillips has been fired by ESPN. I love the sentence at the bottom of the link:
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Adios Steve-O

That's funny
I thought it was Steve Phillips’ utter incompetence that impaired his ability to be an effective analyst, not his affair.

Meanwhile
The other least shocking news of the weekend came just a few minutes ago.
Meteor showers and an F5 Tornado, please! During a game, I may add.
Beer is good! And stuff!
And so begins the Fall Classic of our discontent.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
I have decided on how I want this series to go.
Aside from the many injuries i will be hoping for, I want the Phils to win, but with Rollins, Victorino, Lidge and Hamels being absolutely terrible while on the Yankees, Jeter never reaches first base and make 9 errors.
Is life really worth living?
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
I want this to be a 7 game series.
I want it to come down to an error by A-Rod in the 9th that allows the go-ahead run to score.
Then, I want Lidge to get the first 2 outs in the 9th, and proceed to walk the bases loaded, then I want Dumbo Ears (Posada), to hit a high fly ball to right……it is high…..it is far…..it is…..CAUGHT AT THE WALL !.
“Well Susan….Jorgie hit the ball 317 feet, and he needed to hit it 318 feet to give the Yanks their 27th title”
“Thanks right John…..Oh My God….Roger Clemens is in the Steinbrenner box….he’s coming back to pitch the 10th”.
This reminds me of Bill Clinton
The only major difference, of course, is the outcome.
How about this excerpt, from the article:
In 1998, Phillips admitted having sex with a Mets employee, who sued for sexual harassment. That case was settled out of court.
Oh boy – that definitely doesn’t help. I could imagine that Phillips kept his job for longer with the Mets, because he showed “commitment” by working lots of “overtime”. Go figure.
