No way in hell do the Jays make that trade.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
It depends if the new Jays front office continues Ricciardi's philosophy of not trading major leaguers for A level players...
Plus it’s not enough. Thole and Tejada are good, not great prospects. Marte and Allen are too far away. And as we all know, Daniel Murphy is not a good enough bat for 1st base.
There is no chance a team like the Red Sox or even the Yankees don’t offer a better package than that.
I like his rationale though.
The suitors for Halladay are dwindling and the Red Sox and Yankees would have to offer a significantly better package any other team because I’m sure the Blue Jays don’t want him in the same division.
I think that the package needs to be upgraded. He says the Mets don’t have to trade any of their top prospects, but including at least one of them (probably Mejia or Niese if the Blue Jays want a major league ready pitcher), it could possibly work.
I really would not be in on Halladay this offseason.
If we’re going to commit big money to the team, sign Holliday and a pitcher like Harden from the free agent market. This allows us to keep all of our prospects who should only gain value as the deadline nears next season. There will be good players available at that time if we need to make a move, and we have needlessly traded our prospects when there were good free agent options available.

Using the trade value calculator and some estimates
Halladay and Overbay are worth 21.1 million in surplus. I don’t really feel like making a five year projection of Murphy’s worth, so I’ll just call him, Thole and Tejada ‘B’ level prospects, with Marte and Allen ‘C’ level prospects. Purcey cancels out one C level prospect making the Mets package worth 17.2. Meaning the Mets would have to throw in roughly another B level hitter such as Havens or Nieu. Obviously, there are plenty problems with my estimates, but I think this would be a trade that no team would want, throwing in Havens or Nieu is too much to pay for two players that will be FA at the end of the year and I think the Blue Jays rather get one or two big name prospects rather than a glut of medicore players Madden 2002 style.
Haha
I would always end up with like the first 10 picks in the draft in that game. 5 WRs with 97-99 speeds was awesome. Running the spread in the NFL? Even better

in a heartbeat
but first we have to see if the Cardinals accept our proposed Nick Evans and Oil Spill Valdez for Albert Pujols deal

I guess we'll have to throw Cora into the trade then

as the dx theme song goes
no chance in hell.
Fangraphs’ Dave Cameron equates Halladay’s performance in terms of trade value here and suggests that it translates into 3 A-level prospects.
He even directly addresses the Mets as a suitor: “Mets fans? Fernando Martinez, Wilmer Flores, and Jenrry Mejia.” and he’s right, they’d NEVER talk without some combo of these 3.
that said, Dave Cameron is smarter than the Jays' front office.

uh, because until three weeks ago
their general manager was a guy who irrationally hated Adam Dunn for “not liking baseball” and who denied a Nelson Cruz-David Wright trade?

It's nice to dream. But, yeah...Not happening. The only way that'd happen was if Omar Minaya was the Blue Jays GM.
Omar doesn’t actually have a history of horrible trades, from our point of view, but still…Any time there’s a chance to malign him as GM, one should take it.
