that FOX baseball climactic music gets stuck in my head
they played it at every commercial break during the 2008 ASG and it nearly drove me insane
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
You mean optional, right?
If so, I’m out.
(note: I might be guilty of going back in here, just to see how everyone’s holding up.)

wtf is up with the star wars music they're playing

"[The Giants] beat us down. We were beat by a grown-man team, a team we want to be like one day. They came in here and took it to us. Out-manned us, out-gunned us. ... It wasn't even close." - Raheem Morris, 9/27/09
why is the announcer going like
“Batting 4th… 3B, number 13, Alex Rodriguez… number 13”
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
What can we hope for?
What can we hope happens that does not involve a natural disaster, act of war or anything else terrible which causes this series to never finish? Umps get busted for gambling? Congress repeals MLB’s anti trust status and it becomes an illegal business causing cancellation of the WS? There must be something.
actually
our best case scenario is probably a repeat of the 1919 World Series. One team wins, but then it’s found out after that the other team took money to throw the series. That way, it casts the winner in doubt.

Who just saw Rollins give up an out on the first pitch?
Wasn’t it gritty the way he just bunted right into that out without making anybody work? Way to set the tone for the series, give up an out on a crap base hit bunt attempt on the first pitch.

My Prediction...
… Yankees beat Phillies in 4. Score of the games: 4-3, 10-4, 7-2, 6-3. MVP: A-Rod. You read it right here on Amazin’ Avenue!

Not watching the game. Couldn't care less who wins, but I like the community, so I thought I'd stop in
All that grission could cause an atomic explosion
Then we’d all get that apocalyptic result we were hoping for after all.

That’s not apocalyptic enough. We need something more serious.

That looks really ideal.

After a while, it almost as if the entire broadcast of the playoffs is scripted.
I pull for TBS coverage of World Series next year with Howie, Darling, and Burkhardt.

Wait that didn't look right. Let me rephrase that.
I LOBBY for TBS coverage of World Series next year with Howie, Darling, and Burkhardt.

I want Ron, Keith and Gary to go all DX and invade the FOX booth, grab the mic and tell the FOX crew to suck it.

I’m not even watching the game I’m going by this discussion board. 100000xs better.

Wait are the 5 rest stops on the Turnpike alone?
There’s gotta be more than 5. I remember a rest stop with a McDonalds on the Parkway outside of Newark/Irvington.

but doesnt all of philly count as a restroom?
which means there are infinite rest stops between the two.

Philly is the biggest rest stop between Baltimore and New York.

We should all put the '86 series in at the start of these games and have our own IGT. Screw this crap.
actually
that’s what SNY should be showing right now. they have the Darryl Strawberry Charity Golf Tournament instead.
that's such a good idea

Speaking of Utley HR
The thought of Harry Kalas saying “Chase Utley you are the man!” really grinds my gears. So annoying. No disrespect to Harry, though.
Beer is good! And stuff!
speaking of Harry Kalas
Was anyone at the home opener this past season? If you were, did you notice that a bunch of the crowd booed during the moment of silence they had for Harry Kalas? I still don’t understand how people can be that fucked up. It’s a media-made rivalry between two baseball teams, you don’t boo the memory of someone for that.
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
Dunno who the announcers are
I’m listening to ESPN international so I have no idea who the guys calling it are; they seem pretty good defiantly better than Joe Buck. They said its actually good thing to get on base and haven’t called any Phillies “gritty” yet, so far so good
How would one say 'grit' in Spanish?
‘Gritisimo’?
Shane Victorino tiene mucho gritismo. Mucho.

Its ESPN International in English
I know, it seems unnecessary… I’m on vacation and have watch this of Fox Deportes.
nah
just americans…. or Brits with no accents hmm….
And I think this guy knows about UZR, he said something like the Phillies don’t have the best fielding percentage, but they have great range (stressing range). I think he’s trying to pretend like he doesn’t, but he knows
Did the other feeds show Victorino saying thanks to the troops?
‘Cuz I didn’t appreciate them humanizing them and making me think twice about hating him… I’d like to keep my narrow-minded baseball views
So...redundant...

Better him than Sutcliffe.
At least he can humor me with that routine he did on SCTV…the one with the drunken Canadian brothers. I forgot the name of that routine.

He just had that pissy-looking demeanor of why he was in the bullpen.
And because of that, I felt he lost most of those games on purpose.
Beer is good! And stuff!
He did mostly good for us. He just served up runs at inopportune moments.

good they reversed it, it indeed is 2 outs
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
rollins caught it close to the ground
threw it relatively wildly to first, matsui was off the bag though and howard managed to get a tag on
they originally just called it one out, and said matsui was safe at first

My theory of this
David Montgomery paid the umps off so that he could get what he wanted the last 3 years. He also bribed the incompetent Selig too to get those desired results.

Maybe instead of making asinine substitutions
Joe Girardi should teach his players the rules of baserunning, specifically that you’re supposed to stand on the base, not off of it.

Did anybody else hear that question Buck asked Rosenthal?
What is the advantage of bringing in Phil Hughes to start the inning instead of with runners on base? Do you really need someone to explain that to you Joe?
