" Funny Nick Johnson story. At the 2001 playoffs, he asked a writer about the dogs on the field, and when he was told they were bomb-sniffing dogs, Johnson responded, "What are they looking for?"
• By the way, Johnson probably won't be making a return to New York. While the Mets will look at free agent first baseman, and Omar Minaya had Johnson with the Expos, the Mets are shying away from injury-prone players.

Reminds me of a story about South African cricketer Jacques Kallis
Running along the beach as fitness training, he supposedly turned to the instructor and said “so boss, how far above sea level are we?”

I’m guessing this will mean another year of Omar only being able to remember the season immediately before, and he’ll pursue “health” as single-mindedly as he pursued “bullpen” last year.
Yup.
And by putting a championship team on the field, Omar’s only going after guys with rings. Mike Timlin in the hizzy!

ugh
I think you’re right. I hate him with a passion previously reserved for…no, there’s nobody I hate that much. I was gonna say Steve Phillips, but I didn’t really hate him until after he was our GM. Omar’s a special breed of suck.

I'm not an Omar fan,
but I’d still take him over Phillips or Duquette.
