Mets roundtable discussion, part three: Matt Holliday, Jason Bay or John Lackey? - - NJ.com
Part three. Still anxiously awaiting the return of sizzlechest5.
If the Mets spend big on one free agent this winter -- and, obviously, there are only three high-priced options here: Matt Holliday, John Lackey or Jason Bay -- who do you think it should be and why?

Heh, I didn't even mean the gross spelling errors!
I was thinking about the fact that he thinks we can outbid/afford Jason Bay and Matt Holliday, that Jeff Francoeur and Fernando Martinez are all Toronto wants for Roy Halladay, and that bringing Gary Sheffield back for another tour of duty would be a good idea.

if Omar manages to get Roy Halladay for that package
I will build him a statue.
Also, Alex Anthopoulos should be fired on the spot, then tarred and feathered at 2nd base of the Skydome on opening day next year

If Omar gets Halladay for that package
I will take back everything I ever said bad about him.

Well, you have to pay Halladay an extension too
I would rather keep Fernando Martinez and find some other way to buy 5 wins every year with that $20M+ over the next 5+ years.

seriously?
I like Martinez a lot, but I’d trade him straight up for Halladay in a heartbeat, and that’s not even considering that you’d be getting rid of Francouer.

I didn't mean to make it seem like Martinez is untouchable
I wouldn’t trade Eddie Kunz for him because Halladay’s salary will be assuredly ridonk.

whatayathink?
trade BB-Rod for first baseman Miguel Cabrera. Throw in some $. Sign or trade for a cheap “closer.” Murph can back Miggy up when he goes on benders and can’t perform his job.

Why would the Tigers do that?

I was just wondering the other which teams would theoretically be interested in Rodriguez
I would trade him straight up for Milton Bradley
But, ultimately, it’s all hypothetical because most people don’t even realize that his contract is so bad.

Yeah and with teams looking to cut costs
Even if the contract was a little more reasonable very few teams could afford him.
