Welcome To Free Agency!

A_fool_and_his_money_medium

This post was originally titled "Mets Sign Matt Holliday", which seemed funny to me at 1am last night but in retrospect is still pretty funny but also kinda douchey. I didn't think people would actually believe that Scott Boras's top client would sign a deal five minutes into free agency. My bad.

Way to lift someone’s hopes up just to crush them. Asshole.

So let me get this straight....

Paying for Lackey is a waste of money, but paying over $100 million and 6 years to a career .284/.353/.455 hittter on the road is the definition of logical????

by Syler on Nov 20, 2009 1:10 AM EST reply actions

Ok, fail on my part

I’m just not at all comfortable going with a combination of Harden/Sheets/Bedard into the season, and I don’t see another good option out there that would only cost money like Lackey.

by Syler on Nov 20, 2009 1:23 AM EST up reply actions

I don't think it's either those three injured pitchers

or Lackey. I’d honestly rather have someone like Piniero on a short term deal.

He was absymal his rookie season

Since then he’s opsed

.819, .860, .892 and .832 last year. Considering some of the cavernous parks in the NL West that’s not exactly bad.

Not to mention he’s what 3 years younger than Lackey? It’s kind of a no brainer you’d rather invest a lot of money long-term in a younger player, than an older one assuming they’re equal at present time.

Ouch....that hurt

"We have to find a way to play better, there's no doubt. Overall. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody. Offense, defense, pitching -- we have to find a way to play better. The reality of this is, coming here to Pittsburgh and being swept -- personally, I feel embarrassed." -- Carlos Beltran

wow

that’s just harsh

This would have been colder if it was just the headline with the rest after the jump.

Now THAT would’ve been some rude shit. This just made me laugh.

It still says

“Mets sign Matt Holliday” on the Yahoo link this morning.

You don't cheer for the Mets. You drink for the Mets.

Yea

Not much I can do about that, except delete-and-repost. Maybe they’ll update it at some point, but I doubt it.

On the bright side

you’ll probably have extra site traffic this morning

You don't cheer for the Mets. You drink for the Mets.

by Kevin H on Nov 20, 2009 8:55 AM EST up reply actions

Yea

Though I didn’t want it for this. Oh well. Maybe the Mets will sign Matt Holliday today and I’ll just seem prescient.

Rec'd

totally cromulent quote.

I've found cromulent slipping into my daily vocabulary

I credit/blame this site
