Hope this isn't true..
"Bill Madden of the New York Daily News says the Mets will have about $20 million to spend this offseason.
Madden says the Mets are certain to reduce their $147 million payroll and should be counted out of the Lackey, Holliday and Bay sweepstakes. Madden goes on to say that second-tier free agents should be their focus with priorities being left-field and two starting pitchers, naming Jason Marquis specifically."

I look forward to winning 75 games next year

When was the last time Bill Madden proved to have any useful information about the Mets whatsoever
I mean, now that Tony B.‘s gone, can’t he just go back to being a Yankee schill 24/7?

Bill Madden has a hard on for Jason Marquis. Don't know what's up with that.

I don't see any reason to believe Bill Madden here
when Minaya and the Wilpons have basically said that they don’t need to reduce the payroll.

Yes, but can't think of any reasons to ever believe Minaya or the Wilpons.

Yeah but similar reports were everywhere last year
And they ended up increasing by about 10 million.

I don't mind if the Mets don't sign the big free agents this winter.
Problem is, they’re probably going to overpay for someone bad and won’t know where to find value.

If they reduce payroll
I hope the outrage is deafening. And that they pony up for the $800 million ballpark we just gave them.
