The Market For Old, Crappy Middle Infielders Is Rapidly Shrinking
35 year-old John McDonald, he of the career .593 OPS and 1 WAR (yes, 1 WAR in 1862 career plate appearances) signed with the Blue Jays for 2 years, $3 million. What will Alex Cora get? 2 years, $6 million?

Because Omar apparently decides on a price he wants to pay
And doesn’t take the market into consideration, same thing with the K-rod contract, Tim Reddings contract, and probably Perez’s contract.

Wow.
McDonald was only an average fielder last year, too, though he did knock in a whopping thirteen ribbies with what must have been a steroid-fueled career high in slugging of .384! (To accompany that .fine 271 OBP.) Is he a fan favorite? Must be. I mean, it’s not that you can get someone like McDonald for the ML minimum—but rather that you can get someone better for the ML minimum.
