Coste agreed to terms with the New York Mets today on a contract that guarantees him a spot on the 40-man roster.
Coste said the Mets were the only team to give him that guarantee, although he said it isn’t a given that he’ll be on the opening-day roster.

World Series here we come!
I want Kelly Shoppach
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
Short of Shoppach
I won’t complain about bringing in some no-cost catchers, with the idea that they’re essentially placeholders until the organization is comfortable with Josh Thole’s defense, which Toby Hyde recently provide some encouraging news on.

Zaun would also be acceptable
for a year
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
I actually like this though.
He was useful in 2008 and 2008, and this is low risk. And it isn’t 2 million.

Useful twice in 2008
on nonconsecutive occasions! He’s the Grover Cleveland of baseball.

As I said eariler about Blanco, meh.
If there's ever a riot at Citi Field and Oliver Perez was the starter, I started the riot.
maybe us signing Coste
will make them sign Marlon Anderson to get us back (sorta like tag) but then we just laugh and do nothing.
can he be worse than santos?

40 year old Chris Coste?
We are on our way! To where, you ask? Good question. I thought Santos was our right-handed catcher and that we were looking for a left-handed bat to platoon with him. Guess not.
"Never throw a slider to The Glider."
- Ed Charles, No. 5
While we're signing ex-Phillies ...
… anybody here interested in Brett “The Wife-Beater” Myers? If healthy, I think he could be a solid starter for us. He still throws 92-94 mph and he has one of the best curve balls in MLB. He might produce better in our spacious ball park which is Citi Field.

no wife beaters. sorry, that's where I draw the line when it comes to signing assholes.

i don't care how much of an asshole you are, generally
but getting arrested for assault, or any other felony I draw the line

37 year old catcher. Nothing more than a potential backup/AAA depth.

Not to Omar.
Omar sees a starter on a championship team.
