I lobby for game 7.
Francesa needs to sweat off a few more pounds, and so do all the fat ass Yankee fans I work with.
i've been in agreement
with you since the beginning man. I can’t stand seeing the teams that always win…. well win

Eric
can we change the Pedro picture to just a blank face? Pedro pitching a WS game with that hat on as his picture is kinda demoralizing…. as if this series can’t be anymore

Well for a second you can imagine the Mets are in the world series, not the …. well you know.

I have to say
Ben Francisco is on the list of Phillies I don’t absolutely hate. And it’s a short list. He’s new, I guess.
He's probably the most boring Phillie ever.
He’s not gritty enough. He’s gotta do something insane.
Beer is good! And stuff!
what are you talking about!!
theres nothing crazier than being on the phillies and not being gritty!

Well there is one thing.
In fact, it’s the greatest thing that has ever happened. This:
Watch whole vid to the end. At 0:26 is where the crazy awesome epic part starts to happen.
Beer is good! And stuff!

Grindcore is a strange genre.
That’s why I like it. Along with the majority of heavy metal’s subgenres.
Beer is good! And stuff!
Punk is great too.
Big fan of Pennywise in high school, but these days, I’m about DKM and Flogging Molly.
Beer is good! And stuff!
flogging molly are great live
if you havent seen them i recommend it.

I would love to at one point.
I would like to see a Dave King solo performance as well. He would kill by his lonesome.
Beer is good! And stuff!
yea
i was always into more traditional metal with the exceptions being death, hammerfall, in flames. mostly sepultura, slayer, megadeth (better than tallica) and then the proggy stuff like rush, genesis, yes, tool, crimson, dream theater.

by MetsKnicksRutgers on Nov 4, 2009 8:15 PM EST up reply actions
Sheehan played in Vai's band, and Mr. Big was his side project.
I don’t think Vai was ever WITH Mr. Big.
Have you guys seen Mr Big’s cover of Deep Purple’s " Burn ". ?
Mr. Big, damn.
All I remember is their ballad, which was pretty cool. Any recent material that’s been out from them?
Beer is good! And stuff!
hmm...
i gotta admit i went on a “small sample size” with Mr. Big just knowing about that power ballad song off that… power ballads CD that had all the infomercials in the 90s. This is bad ass

Thrash revival has some good bands.
Among them Municipal Waste and Warbringer. They tear new ones.
For a grind band, you would like Napalm Death. They totally own.

I just posted this as a fanshot, but it's so good I had to share it twice
"[The Giants] beat us down. We were beat by a grown-man team, a team we want to be like one day. They came in here and took it to us. Out-manned us, out-gunned us. ... It wasn't even close." - Raheem Morris, 9/27/09

By the way
I just watched the first few innings of Game 4 of the ’69 World Series. So much better than this crapfest.
It’s funny seeing the green wall at Shea (you think people were complaining it wasn’t “Mets” enough back then?) and seeing Davey Johnson (just “Dave” then) get booed. Also pretty awesome watching Tom Seaver face off against the likes of Frank Robinson

have a boner for Shane Victorino
"We're investigating the investigative procedure of the investigation of Tony Bernazard"---Omar Minaya (he really didn't say it but he would"
... and the crowd erupts as Capt'n hits the ball 150 feet....
that ball is high, it is far, it is…….right behind the shortstop
Tex just missed that
by the way, does anyone else find it as funny as I do how the Yankees fans hated Tex when he started off slow, then they fell in love with him and claimed he should be MVP when he had a really good season, and now they hate him again for having a cold two weeks?
Yankees fans are the best

I disagree
I still love David Wright…

yeah, but if sucked in a post season....
you’d love him, but you’d be screaming at him to do better.
which is what’s happening here, except that it’s the Yankee fans doing it their own way.
like some fans did at Beltran?

I tend to be more emotional....
I have this visual of a group of us at a game with me screaming my guts out, and you guys with calculators trying to figure out BaBip.
oh no man
im insanely emotional… like really bad. but with players like jose los or dub i give em some slack… same with F!.

couldn’t be further from the truth. When I’m at the games or watching them on TV I’m as emotional and unreasonable as the next guy. But I tend to step back after the game is over and know not to blame the best guys on the team, even if they had a particularly bad game.

probably same thing happening with Yank fans and Teix.
except for the top 1% that are obnoxiously vocal.
well
i bet its safe to assume… there are twice as many “yankee” fans watching this WS as there would be Mets fans were we in there… so more fans = more assholes

I don't know if I agree with that
how many of them didn’t come around on ARod until this postseason? I’d wager a much higher percentage than Mets fans who dislike Beltran or Wright.
I think it’s a difference of expectations. Yankees fans are extremely unreasonable, and if a player hasn’t won 4 rings for them, he’s gonna be extra-scrutinized. We’re just happy with guys who get us meaningful games in September

Derek Jeter is a media whore.
So is A-Rod. A-Rod is also a tremendous douche
Rivera is an arrogant bastard, same for Sabathia
Damon is a traitor to Boston
Tex,Burnett, and Sabathia whored themselves to the highest bidders
Cano is obnoxious
Girardi is a terrible manager who’s going to get loads of credit now
George Steinbrenner is an asshole

I was pretty much aiming that at Syler

if the Baseball Gods had any sense of karmic justice

You mean a Braves-Phillies NLCS?
But that (Mets-Red Sox) already happened once anyway. I wanna see Mets-White Sox. That ought to make the Cubs and Yanks fans pissy. No, wait, I’ll do one better: Mets beat Phils in NLCS, then beat Yanks in WS. That would be the greatest season ever!
Beer is good! And stuff!

There were no expectations near the end
2007 was like being shot 5 times, having acid poured on your face, having your feet cut off, and then having a Phillies fan spit on you and telling you that you suck
here's my argument for right now:
it’s like the culmination of a long stretch of suck that only started in August, ‘07. Like, after that we went and got Santana and I was convinced we were good to go, and then September ’08 happened. And even after all that, I still thought we’d be right in it this year, only to suck as bad as we’ve sucked in half a decade. And to top it off, the two worst possible teams play each other in the Series.

My argument:
I was there for the final game of 2007. It was literally like a morgue after the first inning. I felt numb for the rest of the day and the rest of the season. Oh, and going to the game was a birthday present.
Nothing that happened this year could ever match the pure horror and shame I felt that day.
same here
my birthday’s October 3, so my dad took me to like 6 or 7 “last game of the years” as a present, and for 2007 we had awesome seats right behind the Mets dugout. I’ll never forget the look on Glavine’s face when he walked off the mound. I wanted to jump out there and punch him.

I don't mind it when you know they're gonna be terrible
my childhood was very enjoyable, b/c I just missed the 80’s teams, so all I knew were Bobby Bo and Jeff Kent and the suck that came with them. And even in ‘03, I knew we had Reyes and Wright coming up the pipes, and I remember telling my dad it reminded me a lot of the ’83 Mets, with Doc and Darryl on the way. That’s what made ’06 hurt so much – that was supposed to be ’86, and it was oh so close.

I was there for that too
(I’ve seriously gone to a ton of “last games”) – I was so disappointed he didn’t hit a homer. It felt like the only time in his career he didn’t rise to the occasion. Maybe it was better that way

yea
at the time, I thought it was the right move to let him go. In retrospect, I kinda wish we still had him. He can’t be worse than Omir, right?

He did have a "renaissance" season in 2006.
I went to that Padres game when he came back. That was a great game.

Thank God!
I live in Philly, which is why I rooted for the Hankees. I didn’t want to see people celebrating in my face while I’m so miserable. I was forced to witness the parade of drunk douche bag Phillies fans last year clog up Center City last year, so I’m ecstatic to not have to see that again. (But if I was living in NY, I would have rooted for the Sillies. Same rationale. Misery loves company.)

It's been fun talking to you all tonight
always better to suffer in company than to suffer alone. And hey, when the Mets finally do make it back to the top someday, we’ll all be able to point to this thread and say we were there for the bad times.
Now I’m gonna go continue my Mets dynasty in OOTP Baseball and then cry myself to sleep. I’m only joking about one of those – I’ll let you guess which one.
