#tigers offer arbitration to Rodney and Lyon, not to Polanco.— Jason Beck (@beckjason) December 1, 2009
Polanco, a Type-A free agent, would be an interesting option at second if the Mets are able to move Luis Castillo. The Tigers did offer arbitration to Type-B free agent relievers Fernando Rodney and Brandon Lyon. This means nothing to teams interested in their services, as Type-B free agents require no compensation from the signing team (the former team does get a sandwich pick after the first round, but those picks come from a pool that is limited only by the number of Type-A and -B free agents who sign elsewhere). Lyon is useful against lefties and righties and should definitely be on the Mets' radar (but probably isn't).
