Astros Offer Arbitration To Jose Valverde, Pass On Miguel Tejada, LaTroy Hawkins, And Doug Brocail
Valverde wasn't particularly appealing anyway.
Tejada has a spotty fielding history. UZR only really liked him twice: in 2004 (7.1 per 150) and in 2008 (9.4 per 150). He's -4.7 (per 150) over his career and was -12.4 (per 150) in 2009. There has been some talk about shifting him to third, which doesn't help the Mets any. Could he be a fit at second base?
Hawkins might be a decent sixth- or seventh-inning guy. Meh on Brocail.
