"It would be nice [to aquire Jason Bay]…I think you’d be looking at a pretty good lineup one-through-nine."

Good to see Frenchy is confident in our pitchers ability to hit.

I think he may have secretly leaked the team's plan to have position players pitch next season.

Our rotation is going to be Santana, Pelfrey, Cora, Pagan, and Bay.

Good to know...

His good-player recognition and pitch recognition are on the same level.

I’m sorry, but a 6-9 of Francoeur, Molina, Murphy, pitcher strikes me as somewhat less than “pretty good”

But, but, but

Francoeur! Molina! Those guys make RBiZZZ!

True

Beltran and Wright do pansy things like “walk” and “get hits.” Francoeur and Molina do manly, gritty things like hit sacrifice flies.

Not to mention, another Post article mentioned among the many good things about Molina is that he was on the 2002 Angels, who won the World Series. So I say, why stop there? Bring back Scott Schoeneweis and Sally Balls Fasano. What about Mark Lukasiewicz? And Lou Pote! These guys have rings! They’re winners!

you know where this is going

Molina was on the 2002 Angels. With Lackey, and BB-Rod. We can also sign Eckstein. That’s 4 of the winners! IF we get Darin Erstad to, thats 5 which is like 25 grission wins already.

Jeff Francoeur says a lot of things that are silly.

He’s like a little kid who thinks he knows what he’s talking about, when he really doesn’t. It’s cute, in an odd way.

I don't agree with Francoeur but...

I wonder what the reaction here would be, if someone like David Wright had said this.

I would point out the same thing,

I found it more humorous not considering the 6-8 spots will be occupied by Frenchy, Murphy and Molina but more that his slip of the tongue included the pitcher’s spot when mentioning the solid lineup.

the number one issue facing the Mets is finding that one guy who’s going to say "get on my shoulders and ride me to the championship."

1-9 is just an expression

you guys dont need to get on francouer for absolutely no reason. he said something harmless like player A (who hit 35+ homers and 115+ rbis last year) would make our lineup better. there’s nothing wrong with that, and really no way to disagree with it. if somebody asks him what he thinks of the team getting jason bay, wtf would you expect him to say?

i actually agree with this

depending on context. if he was asked what about jason bay? then, sure.

Again the humor I found

has nothing to do with Francouer, I just thought it was funny that he included the pitcher spot and like I said above, it was clearly a slip of the tongue, but everyone has a different sense of humor.

maybe he knows something we don't

let the Micah Owings & Dontrelle Willis rumors begin

I'd take both.

Judging by the comments to Matt Callan’s ode to 1986 Mets: A Year To Remember from a few weeks back, the video has a devoted Mets fan following. Despite being too young to remember anything about that season, it has a special place in my fandom as well. It was part of a two video rotation (Ghostbusters being the other) which ran almost daily on my television for a few years in the early 90s. And it remained a once-in-awhile watch through high school and college.

Unsurprisingly, the physical tape deteriorated over time, and the screen jumps and sound skips made for a less than optimal viewing experience. With sale of the video discontinued, my brother converted it to DVD and gave it to me for Christmas in 2010. See the picture above for the box and DVD. He even created a scene selection function which can be accessed from the main menu. "Get Metsmerized!" plays on loop on the menu screen. It is my favorite Christmas gift ever and is still nice to throw on for a viewing.

"How'd we do it? Mirrors!"
I was flipping through some of my parents' photo albums this afternoon in search of one particular shot of the sign my older sister made for Mets Banner Day back in the late eighties. Though I didn't find that one — I'll post it when I eventually track it down, and I can assure you that it's Keith-themed — but I did stumble upon this wonderful photo of my younger sister's stuffed animal menagerie spread out in front of a glorious rainbow-festooned Mets pennant, also from the late eighties.

She works for the HRC now and was particularly delighted to be reminded of this photo.

Now that banner day is back, hopefully this years will look a little like this. I know it's not great, but i don't pretend to be a professional. embiggen!
