A little credit for Cerrone
Since Metsblog was the blog that got me hooked on blogs... I have always had a soft spot for it. Even though I stopped commenting...
wanna give Matt some due here, because I feel that he gets credit for his blogs comments too often...
On Molina:
…it’s funny, because, personally, i don’t think he’s worth one year… so, i wonder how negotiations would go if i was GM of the Mets… i bet we’d enjoy a good lunch, though…
…i had been saying during the Winter Meetings, last week, that the Mets would prefer to sign a catcher to just a one-year contract; and so, if molina is looking for three, the Mets might relent, eventually offering two guaranteed seasons, which i feel is a mistake, not just because his OBP and weight are getting dangerously close, but because he’s a 35–year-old catcher… and when is signing a 35–year-old catcher, without the DH, ever a smart move…

I'm sorry, I just can't respect anything Cerrone says, even if's true
I lost all respect for this clown after he went Gestapo on the comments
when he did that
the comment section was unbearable.
Its bad now because its filled with people who are generally wrong in opinion… but it was bad then because it was filled with repetition, anger and stupidity. Plus, he was getting something stupid like 1000 comments a post, so not only was it stupid, but you couldn’t even read it.
Perhaps
but now the comment sections are lucky to have 20 posts, and there’s usually nothing interesting in them
What infuriates me more than anything else is his policy on it.
I was apparently barred because I was apparently “self-promotional”, “obnoxious” or “boring”, and you don’t even get a chance to “re-audition”.
Cerrone is a tool, period.
aww
nothing personal. failing a blog audition is just hilarious.

that is funny
i was just joshin with ya syler…
but yeah, thats one for the resume… failed metsblog commentator audition.
not just because his OBP and weight are getting dangerously close,
imma have to give Cerrone over 9000 internets for that comment.
even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while
but that comment was pretty funny, and sadly accurate.

I tend to think that Cerrone has about the same baseball knowledge as i do
He reads what the smart cats are saying over here at AA but he isn’t comfortable engaging in that level of discussion. he’s a little too soft-headed by temperament.
Me too, so I try to be humble and funny as I learn to contribute through baby steps to the hard-knock baseball stuff. cerrone, on the other hand, unleashes his anxieties by waxing on like hamlet about this and that issue that he’s conflicted about, letting a bunch of mannerisms and filler stand in for the baseball knowledge he knows he doesn’t have.
Hence the defensiveness and assholeishness, and the all-out effort to stamp his name all over the place and not hire writers that would show him up.

I cant really blast him
The sites a good site if you want one blog to stockpile and summarize all news mets. If you are going there for intelligent commentary on baseball matters then its a whole other story. Part of me thinks that he has no interest in sabermetrics because most baseball fans have no interest either, therefore he can reach the largest audience (which in the end makes him the most money). But its a useful tool for news and there are plenty of other sites where more intelligent conversation can be had ( like here for example)
