Haha
The only reason I’m even slightly excited about this signing is the fact that the Red Sox had interest in Igarashi. That must mean something.

I like it...I feel like this is a good upside move to help re-establish ourselves in that market.
Now bring back Bobby V…

Holy crap.
Does that mean that Tellem isn’t sure where they stand… or that they forgot to bring an interpreter?

You just know he is.
I bet he claps and yells when he’s happy, too. And you just KNOW he’s one of those ostentatious, constantly-bowing types.

If he EVER
culturally shows respect to ANYONE on a baseball field Alex Cora had better run over pound him into the ground. Respect does not equal grission, that’s the first rule of the Grish Testament of the Baseball Bible.

I'd be willing to sign him
if his only role was to sit on crappy players

The Mets have had a bad history of signing Japanese players
Masato Yoshii
Tsuyoshi Shinjo
Kaz Matsui
Shingo Takatsu
Yusaku Iriki (Gawd, what a disaster that turned out to be!)
Ryota Igarashi?

you take that back about Tsuyoshi Shinjo!
he was better at attempting to play baseball while wearing bright orange armbands than any player i can think of!

I, for one, will always be grateful for Tsuyoshi Shinjo
If not for his time with the Mets, we wouldn’t have good folks like Ted Berg trolling YouTube to find random videos of Shinjo being awesome.

You're forgetting Komiyama and Takahashi
and if you’re counting Takatsu then you might as well count Kaz Ishii and Nomo as all three are Japanese-born players that were already were in the MLB before coming to Mets. Anyways, Yoshii was kind of decent for the Mets with an ERA+ of 107 and 101 in his two seasons with the Mets and Shinjo had, by all accounts, a great glove and was kind of Endy before Endy before his bat disappered. The other players pretty much performed as well as should have been expected sans Matsui. So, I wouldn’t say the Mets have a bad history of signing Japanese players, just more that they tend to be overhyped by the media and Kaz Matsui didn’t perform as well as anyone predicted.
the number one issue facing the Mets is finding that one guy who’s going to say "get on my shoulders and ride me to the championship."
Yoshii and Shinjo were awesome
and I never even heard of Iriki or Igarashi. Matsui was the only one who really didn’t live up to expectations

what?
don’t you realize it wasn’t that our pitchers were crappy, or our pitching coach was so-so.
it as because Omir couldn’t call games!
hence the stockpiling of catchers rather than bringing in new pitchers, Omar’s got it all figured out
"We have a plan, and our plan, I like our plan'
it's Omar's world, we're just livin in it.
He couldn't call games
cus he only ever has a clenched fist – after pumping it wildly rounding the bases against Jonathon Papelbon, he lost the ability to move his fingers. He’s a toughy and played through it, but all the pitchers ever saw was the pitch out sign, hence leading the league in walks.
