Mets Close to Deal with R.A. Dickey
A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press the New York Mets are nearing agreement on a minor league contract with knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the deal was not yet complete.
The 35-year-old right-hander made 14 starts for Seattle in 2008 but was primarily a reliever for Minnesota last season, when he went 1-1 with a 4.62 ERA in one start and 34 relief appearances.

I can support this.

Not just a knuckleballer
But a knuckleballer with a name that makes him sound like a newspaper editor from 1953.

Ha. Rec’d.
I wonder if he’s got that old-timey newsreel kind of voice, too. I’m just gonna pretend that he does until someone tells me otherwise.

the number one issue facing the Mets is finding that one guy who’s going to say "get on my shoulders and ride me to the championship."
My dreams have come true
I no longer care what I get for Christmas. Slot him into no. 1 in the rotation, and I will personally purchase all six R.A. Dickey jerseys they attempt to sell.

If only Putz hadn't left
With him, Dickey, and Stoner, we’d have the most double-entendre’d pitching staff ever. Now we just need to take a run at Wang.
