Using Sky's WAR spreadsheet, Bill James projections and a bit of estimatation to fill in gaps, the current Mets roster is projected to win 87 games.

I made this spreadsheet editable so that if anyone wanted to change an estimate/add baserunning/better fielding projections they could.

Shave off 10 wins

for the Bill James inflation

I hear you,

I’m waiting for FanGraphs to include more projections as well as the fan projections to increase in population size. Just wanted to throw this spreadsheet out there just in case anyone was interested in tinkering with it.

the number one issue facing the Mets is finding that one guy who’s going to say "get on my shoulders and ride me to the championship."

I know

but I did the same thing last year trying to get them out earlier. Sweet Jesus, 95 wins with no LFer.

there is also marcels, chone, and zips available i think

how can johan possibly be projected for 7 WAR. that makes no sense at all.
i made my own WAR spreadsheet using CHONE before for position players, including some FAs and trade possibilities (it was a fanpost)

Word,

I more wanted to throw a spreadsheet on google docs so that people could use it as a helpful madlib than actually project anything.

yeah, that will be cool

to fill in as the offseason goes along, with increasingly worse players.

Thanks for putting this up.

Sorry if I’m a broken record, but with that starting rotation and even with NORMAL injuries, this club could easily stall around .500, and finish with 78 wins.

Scary thing is, this looks like 87 wins if EVERYTHING goes right.

Yeah—this has to be top ten percentile-type projections. Maine pitching 168 innings, Ollie actually having some value, and I hate to say it, but even Johan’s mom ain’t projecting him for a 7.0 WAR season.
