Yanks, D'Backs, Tigers Three-Way is Close
According to multiple sources. The Yankees would receive Curtis Granderson, the D'Backs Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy, and the Tigers would get Max Scherzer, Austin Jackson, Phil Coke, and Daniel Schlereth. I'm personally hoping this deal goes through, so we can stop hearing about how "great" Austin Jackson is from Yankee Fans.

Not only is the image of a Yankee having a three-way with a Tiger and some D-Backs disgusting, but
it would just not be fair if this happened. The Yankees should not get Granderson.

Yeah, I have to imagine the Tigers bought the Yankees company line on Austin Jackson
Getting Scherzer back is nice for them, but for Granderson and Edwin Jackson I have to believe they could have done considerably better. The Yanks are basically getting Granderson for Ian Kennedy, Austin Jackson, and Phil Coke. They’re all polished, but none of them are very good.

Why is it that when we traded for Putz in our threeway, we gave up like twenty million players
Yet, the Yankees, who trade for Granderson, who is a much better player than Putz, and has more impact day-to-day, net him for basically three AAA players? Maybe Coke is a MLB-level player, but neither Kennedy or Jackson have done much anytime recently.

Jackson had like a .600 BABIP!
That’s something, no?

Because life is not fair.
Hopefully they at least resign Damon so they’re no longer in the mix for Holliday.
wow
stock up on the yankees prospect hype dept.
it has and continues to shock me the level of perceived value that is still attached to joba, phil hughes and to a lesser extent ian kennedy. none of that holy triumvirate has had any prolonged success in a major league rotation in numerous attempts over 2-3 years now. and if i have to hear about phil hughes’ 6 inning no-hitter against TEX again i’ll puke. since when did hiding your top pitching prospects in the 7th and 8th, only to get beat up there during the playoffs become a formula for increasing their value?
tigers got a lot of talent but that fan base can’t be pleased losing granderson. i mean who’s the face of the team now, dumbass miggy? overpaid/overrated/overblown magglio? but any team that can get max scherzer right now has to be pleased.
and then theres the dbacks. the stupid, stupid dbacks. how in gods name do you deal away scherzer+ for edwin jackson and ian kennedy?
Great deal for the Tigers
Ok deal for the Yankees
And an absolutely god awful move by Arizona. I mean, Scherzer is already better than Jackson, and will only continue to improve, while Kennedy is a nothing at this point. Byrnes = idiot
I don't think its really even all that great for the Tiger's
Couldn’t they have gotten more for their two best trade pieces and they’re most marketable player if they’d been a little more patient. Maybe they don’t get a guy like Scherzer as the #1 piece, but they must really think of Austin Jackson as a top prospect, which is silly. Guys with 0.33 K/BBs and 4 HRs in full Triple-A seasons don’t generally project for a ton of major league success. Couldn’t they have gotten a deal nearly this good for just one of these guys?

I don't think it's a bad deal for them
I think a lot of front offices are starting to get smarter and probably see through Edwin Jackson’s hype to see a pretty mediocre starter, who’s entering his last few arbitration years and will probably get overpaid in arbitration and they didn’t really have much of a choice with Granderson considering their financial woes, and they still managed to get a guy with front line potential who’s under team control for the next 5 years, which for them I think is pretty significant with their bad contracts, plus some prospects and they got a
I guess that's true
I just have such a hard time believing they couldn’t have found a third team willing to kick in more than the Yankees did. Obviously they’re high on Jackson, so I guess if that’s the perspective its a decent deal, but I just think what the Yankees sent was worth considerably less than what they got, and there are lots of Ian Kennedy replacements out there if that’s what the D’Backs really wanted in addition to Edwin Jackson.

I don't understand Arizona's purpose in this
at all. And I think they have one of the smarter front offices in baseball, possibly the smartest in the NL behind maybe the Brewers, and I just can’t understand anyway this makes sense for them.
Having a season in which you get into the playoffs, but lose, followed by a season in which you just miss getting in seems to turn front offices insane.
Look at the Mets. In 2006, I had faith in Omar. In 2007, a little less, but I still believed. Since 2007? None whatsoever.

Meh I would say Omar got kind of lucky in 06
And his real talent showed later. The D-backs actually seemed to have an intelligent, progressive and sound model.
What?
You don’t think he knew all along that Jose Valentin would play like a star at a position he’d barely ever played before and that Endy Chavez would perform like an all-star in limited duty?

I'm just glad that the two AL teams improved while the NL team got hosed.
Much more important in the long run for the Mets.

Just for the sake of argument
Remember after the Putz trade we all thought we had come out pretty awesome and couldn’t figure out wtf the Indians were thinking and why they involved themselves, of course they didn’t give up as much as Arizona but work with me, maybe after a year Arizona won’t look so crazy?
Unless Jackson suddenly starts striking out 10 per 9 innings
and Scherzer has his arm fall off, I don’t see that happening
Not enough of a splash
3 way deal where we send F-mart, Pagan, and Holt and net Juan Pierre and Jose Guillen.
