Name That Mets Batter - Now With Prizes!

Thanks to the folks at WhatIfSports, we now have prizes to give out for the 'Name That Pitcher/Batter' posts. You can read more about them in this post. They offer many unique sports simulation games including SimLeague Baseball and Hardball Dynasty.

The Prize

For any particular contest, one grand prize winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to WhatIfSports, which will cover a full season of any of their baseball offerings.

The Rules

  1. One winner per contest. The first person to correctly guess the mystery player will be deemed the winner.
  2. One guess per person per contest. Only your first guess in a particular contest will be considered, so make it count.

Great guess

It’s not Garcia, but a nice try nonetheless.

I second that.

The 2009 NY Mets: WE GOT K-ROD! OMG, Putz, too! Sign Lowe! Lowe's a Brave. Sign Manny! Tim Redding, WTF? Sign Manny! Sheets or Perez? SHEETS! Perez?? Oh, Sheets is hurt -- good job, Minaya! WTF?! SIGN MANNY!

Boo

Someone guessed him already.

by Eric Simon on Feb 19, 2009 1:38 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

but to be fair

the first person spelled ‘Rickey’ wrong.

by cjmulrain on Feb 19, 2009 1:41 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

True

That might be a different player, then.

by Eric Simon on Feb 19, 2009 1:45 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wow I'm a moron, honestly

Thought I skimmed the guesses to make sure – maybe the “Ricky” spelling threw me off. I disqualify myself from future contests.

Jorge Valendia

Might as well choose someone random.

Julio Franco?

Whoever he is, he’s in the best shape of his life.

by anonymous on Feb 19, 2009 1:42 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Doubtful

That’s not a Spring Training uniform – a player can only be in the best shape of life during Spring Training.

Hidalgo would have been my second guess. Eric?

by Endys Game on Feb 19, 2009 1:54 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Jay Payton

I think this is a picture of a check swing and it’s throwing everyone off. Is it me or did Payton check his swing an inordinate amount of times???

It is, in fact

Rey Sanchez, though I’ll ask you not to do that again since you’ve possibly taken someone else’s opportunity to guess correctly. Nice job nonetheless.
