A grassroots effort has taken hold in certain orange-and-blue corners of the internet to organize and help convince the Mets to spend much of their remaining 2009 payroll space to sign free agent leftfielder hitter Manny Ramirez.
A gathering outside SNY's Manhattan studios has been planned for this Thursday. Details per the event's Facebook page:
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE COMPLETE AND TOTAL MANNIFICATION OF THE NEW YORK METS IN 2009!
Mets fans lets have our voices heard! Lets show Mr. Wilpon how much we want Manny on our team!
Date: Thursday, Feb 5th
Location: Outside of SNY Studio's (OUTSIDE SNY STUDIOS 51st and 6th AVENUE DURING "METS HOT STOVE")Some folks will be meeting at 6:30 at Radio City Music Hall across the street and walk over for Mets Hot Stove weekly at 7!

I don’t know that I can get behind “THE COMPLETE AND TOTAL MANNIFICATION OF THE NEW YORK METS IN 2009”. “Mannification” may be the worst fake word I have heard in ages.
As such, I’ll have to insist your rally is not about “GETTING IT DUNN FOR THE NEW YORK METS IN 2009” or “STARTING WITH CLEAN SHEETS FOR THE NEW YORK METS IN 2009”.
