Matt Ginter
He’s the most obscure white righty I can think of from 2004.

I would say Trax
but that’s not obscure enough. Let’s try an all-time favorite (not joking)
Grant Roberts

Heath Bell
I think the correct answer has already been guessed, so I’ll go with one of the few remaining white-righties from the ’04 Mets.

not fat enough
Not that you think it’s actually him anyways.

Hmm...
You’d think I’d remember a pitcher with a windup that had his arm seemingly straight back like that.
Heilman?

Those are some tight pants
I woulda gone with Turk but he already got picked.

So...
It’s actually:

Matt Ginter. Congrats to Reg, who got it right off the bat.

so the game is basically
ascertain the year, go to baseball-reference, and find the most obscure player you can?
by DevonEdwards on Feb 26, 2009 12:30 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
The trick, apparently is ascertaining the year.
I can’t tell one year’s uni from another. You guys must all have like super-HD monitors to be able to read the patches.

Perhaps
I need to blur the entire uniform. I never thought that would be necessary but the ingenuity of this group may now require it.
by Eric Simon on Feb 26, 2009 1:15 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Not the entire uniform
But a sleeve patch that gives away the year… well, gives away the year.
by JoshNY on Feb 26, 2009 10:11 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Maybe just the sleeve patches
This one was clear. 2004 had the distinct 40th anniversary patch for Shea Stadium. After that it was easy to narrow it down to the white RHP’s from that year. I could eliminate a few off the bat because of delivery. After that it was just a guess.

The Mets have only worn really distinctive arm patches
a handful of times. ‘64 and ’65 they wore a World’s Fair patch. ‘69 they wore an MLB centennial patch. ’76 they wore a US Bicentennial patch. ’86 they wore a “25th Anniversary patch,” ’92 they wore a William Shea patch, in ’94 they wore 2 patches: a “25th anniversary Miracle Mets” patch, and an MLB 125th anniversary patch, in 2002 they wore a 40th anniversary patch – apparently their definition of “anniversary” had changed between between 1986 and 2002. If ’86 was the 25th anniversary, then 2001 was the 40th. Instead they did superficial math (2002-1962 = 40, yay!) and didn’t realize that 2002 was their 41st season. This is the Mets post-millennium front office…Anyway, they wore the Shea 40th Anniversary patch seen in this picture in ‘04, and they wore the last year at Shea patch last year, and we’re all happy to know they’ll be wearing this beauty next year:

sorry, forgot to finish my post
They have worn arm patches in 10 of their 47 seasons, and 2 of those seasons were the same patch. When you consider how many obscure pitchers pitch in any given season, I don’t think blocking out the sleeves is necessary. I mean, we could probably find out which pitchers wore Mizuno gloves vs. Rawlings, etc. At what point do you have to just blur out the entire picture?

You're really Paul Lukas, aren't you?
