Second that.
'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

i think i agree
we’d know for sure if we could see the ball zipping by him unharmed into the catcher’s mitt.

Don't H8

The psychology of the American (and Western) consumer is going to have to change. The previous bubble economy we witnessed in the late 20th and early 21st century is unsustainable.

I have less than no memory of this guy
Chris Jones? That sounds made up…
By the way, I love when people keep guessing after you’ve posted the answer. Always good for a chuckle.
damn
this would have been a much better place for me to post my Rey Ordonez story that I literally just posted, b/c this would have been the perfect segue. I’m watching my Game 5 of the ’99 NLCS DVD, and Fabregas was playing for the Braves. Sure enough, it was pronounced “George.”
My memory
of Chris Jones was him getting robbed of a game tying HR on a brutal foul call and watching him and Dallas Green go nuts and get ejected.
oh, yeah
wait, nope, still don’t remember him. I was only 10 and 11 when he was with the Mets, but I thought I followed the team religiously back then. I guess it wasn’t till ’97 or even ’98 that I got to the point where I even knew all the scrubs.
One of my fav Mets scrubs ever and I was only 7 when he was on the team.

haha I remember him
great name. You know, I don’t think it’s an age thing – I’m currently watching the 2006 Mets-Yankees game (Wright’s walk-off), and I had already forgotten a few guys from that team, from only 3 years ago and a season in which I watched most of the games, my last still living in NY. I guess some guys are just eminently forgettable.
haha
i was watching the mets-cards (delgado’s 400th as a grand slam, beltran wins it) from 2006 yesterday and i forgot some of the guys on that team too. endy and michael tucker were the starting outfield for the mets that game. ricky ledee also saw playing time. amazing that team got to within 1 game of a world series.
funny story about michael tucker from earlier that season…i saw him play when he was still with the tides and they visited columbus. michael tucker was selected as the “taco bell K man” meaning that if he struck out at some point in the game, everyone in attendance would receive a free taco. unfortunately he didnt strike out, so no mexican deliciousness for us. and then the “taco bell K man” got called up to play outfield for the mets.
