Geez, busy Sunday morning in MLB news. Let's keep our fingers crossed with this one, eh?

santana threw a bullpen session this morning

apparently it went well. the injury can’t be all that bad if he can still threw without pain. at least that’s what i’m telling myself for now.

Yeah, seriously.

"But it's not over yet, everybody thinks it over, but if we can just get the Earth to reverse rotation...this thing can be played again. So there you go, New York Mets......motherf*ckers." - Jon Stewart

Definitely

And by the way, this is not fair. I finally get to watch the Mets on TV, and there’s no thread?! AAARGH!

Just heard on TV

Johan is NOT going back to NY for an MRI…

Maybe this will turn out to not be a big deal, and the main effect will be the benefit of keeping him out of the WBC.

interesting

first the mets say johan needs to be examined in ny, then they let him throw a bullpen session, and then cancel the doctor’s appointment when the bullpen session goes well. why didn’t the mets just stay mum until after the bullpen session?

maybe this has more to do with the weather…if it wasn’t snowing, i wonder if johan would still be going to ny tomorrow just to be careful.

At this point I'd almost prefer they have the MRI done

If the dude’s elbow is bothering him you might as well find out if there is something wrong with it. If nothing shows up, fine, then he can take it easy and maybe dial down the work a bit for the next few weeks. If there is something wrong, then get it fixed before it maybe turns into something worse.

'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

Yeah I don't understand what reason they would have for not doing the MRI

I can understand not wanting him to fly in tomorrow if there’s snow. But why let him throw bullpen sessions? What’s the point of even taking the risk?

Just an aside from the Santana talk...

…Did anyone happen to see what club Delgado chose for that HR he hit today? I’m willing to say 9 iron, but with a 9, you’re not likely to get that much distance. Wow, what a shoe-top shot that was.

just to mess with you, lou:

i hit my 9 iron about 160 yards, that’s 480 feet. I’m willing to bet delgado (if he plays golf) could hit a 9 iron farther than I can, though :D

I see!

You must be using Titleist! My clubs lack a label. Perhaps that’s why I get less distance out of them. Or, perhaps I should set down my purse and swing like a real man. :-)

Delgado doesn’t strike me as a golf player. I see him as a Texas Hold ’Em, cigar smokin type.

Battle of the catchers.

Both Schneider and Castro hit homers as well, so the rivalry for the starting catcher position heats up…
