So listening to WFAN Evan Roberts made a statement that sounds so wrong. It was something to the extent that pitchers should move away from being a strikeout pitcher because it will raise their pitch count and thus they will not be able to pitch longer. Now it cannot be debated that the best out for a pitcher is the strikeout (BABIP being low, is the best thing for a pitcher to maintain a low ERA, and a low ERA ultimately leads to better outings). So the question is -
How stupid is it to not pitch for strikeouts?
If strikeouts do increase pitch counts? Is it better to have a lower ERA for less innings or a higher ERA for more inniings?
I am talking strictly about starting pitchers
