What Are You Looking Forward To This Season?

There's about one week to go before Opening Day - what are you looking forward to this season?  Nothing is out of bounds here, from the food at Citi Field to the development of young Mets players.

I'll start with a couple:

  • Those days when Johan Santana's turn in the rotation lines up with one of the aces of the National League, be it Brandon Webb, Tim Lincecum, Dan Haren, or Cole Hamels.
  • Watching Carlos Beltran learn, and eventually dominate, center field at the new stadium.

Nick Evans and Danny Murphy becoming a one-two punch like Dykstra and Backman used to be.

The Phillies suffering from “defending champions” syndrome and fall off the face of the Earth by August (and this is just a mere hope).

The food at New Shea to blow away every other ballpark’s, be it in taste or price.

The Mets to, well, WIN IN SEPTEMBER! (and hopefully October too)

I don't need no instructions to know how to rock!

Watching JJ and Frank pitch like a bullpen is supposed to.

Watching the Mets beat the Phils, time and time again.
Watching Jose put it all together and becoming the best SS in the league.

ditto

this is mine too…

Ollie

I also want Perez to have a couple blowups in April and May, go to a sports psychologist or hypnotist or some voodoo shaman, then absolutely crush the rest of the season.

Drinking good beer at Citi Field

instead of the swill that they’ve served upstairs at Shea from time immemorial.

We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!

My first post-Shea Mets games

A Ben’s half-smoke or three while watching the Mets paste the Nats in DC
A young, talented core hitting coming into their peak years
A bullpen that can hold leads
The playoffs
A champtionship.

Besides seeing David Wright grow a mustache?

Looking forward to seeing Maine and Pelf take major leaps forward and become legit 15 game winners who can string solid starts together (I hope). And for Ollie to do something to justify my unending faith in him (I pray).

Seeing the Mets in Baltimore

It’s been a few years since the Mets came to MobTown, and the crowd is always juiced during these games – more than Sox or Yankee games. Also I can walk to the stadium from work and parking is free.

But more importantly, I will not buy the MLB TV package for my computer, so I will not have to put up with crappy internet tee-vee. That’s huge for me.

Oh yeah, when I finally get to see a game in CitiField.

Going to my first game at Citi Field

A competent bullpen.
MORE domination in Philly.
An MVP award for Reyes, Wright, Beltran, or someone else.
Some sort of choreographed dance after we win the NL East.

Beltran playing CF at Citi.
Daniel Murphy bitch-slapping my disbelief that he shouldnt be the starting LF.
Seeing how Citi Field plays.
Winning in September and October.
Hopefully getting the money together to come out to NY and watch a game.
Castillo being better.

mets @ att ballpark in may
hopefully mets @ fenway, camden & nats field as well
apparently shake shack burgers

brad holt crushing bitches
dwright gets his mvp and the mets win the series

oh man I forgot about El Professor Reyes

I definitely need to see him making fun of people’s bad Spanish again.

Primarily the fact that the off-season is over with!

Man! Doesn’t it just feel as if this off-season has taken an eternity to end? I’m looking forward to the following:

  • The plain simple fact that baseball is starting. It culminates with everything that is refreshing about the year. Winter has ended and spring is set forth to burst upon us! Grey skies are gone and the gals bring out the halter tops. Every team has a shot at glory. We can forget last year.
  • Opening day at Nationals Park. Sure, it’s not opening day at CITI Field but I’ll take it. Getting together with the fellas for some pre-game wings and beers and then driving into town to watch the game. Seeing the president (hopefully) toss out the first pitch.
  • Hopefully being able to get to NY this year for a weekend and catching a game or two at CITI.
  • Fantasy baseball! 13 different leagues. A good way to spend some time.
  • MLB Extra Innings. Being able to watch as much baseball allowing breaks for work and homework.
  • Blogging on AA and posting relevant comments AND gifs with my friends during the game.
  • Cheering for my beloved METS!

PLAY BALL!!!

I look forward to a lot of things.

- Using my MLB at bat app on my iPhone. So when I’m at work I can listen to the games.

- Going to all four Mets/Giants games when the Mets come here in May.

- The Irish Hammer.

- Using the mother freakin’ fury of caps lock whenever someone cranks one out of the park.

- Wearing my white home David Wright jersey on opening day (for the first time).

- Watching Frankie point to the sky after punching some chump out to end a game.

- Wags/Putz/Frankie. Jeezy Creezy.

- (Hopefully) Luis Castillo proving me wrong.

- Making my return to actually posting more than once in a blue moon here.

- LOU’s pictures. All of them.

"But it's not over yet, everybody thinks it over, but if we can just get the Earth to reverse rotation...this thing can be played again. So there you go, New York Mets......motherf*ckers." - Jon Stewart

Looking forward to:

E-mailing all my friends who are Philly fans (there are many…going to college near Philly sucks like that) sometime in mid-September after the Mets clinch the division with 3 words: “Choke. On. That.” And then never thinking about the Phillies again until the 2010 season, unlike those losers who kept talking about us the whole time they were in the playoffs.
