Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

ESPN First Take comparison between Citi Field and Yankee Stadium. Predictably, Yankee Stadium scores a Home Run or Grand Slam in every category, while Citi Field only gets singles, doubles and triples. Ridiculous. Also, I haven't heard a single person say that the food at Yankee Stadium is better than that at Citi, except for ESPN.

But after navigating to ESPN to watch the video...

it should be pointed out that they gave ambiance at New Shea a Home Run.

It should also be pointed out that they’re the only people, as mentioned above, who say the food at New Yankee Stadium is better than that at New Shea. Brother Jimmy’s is shitty.

The Yankees are the clear winners on stadium name though.

True, but this is obvious.

Almost everyhing else should be Mets

Have you been to the New Yankee Stadium or Citi Field? You can not make that kind of comparison without going to both stadiums.

weird

it works for me. And the name thing is ridiculous – I think everyone recognizes that Yankee Stadium has a better name, but does that really contribute to one’s enjoyment of a day at the park? I think Citizen’s Bank Park is a better stadium than Nationals Park, despite Nats Park having a better name (and a team I hate way less).

Two minutes into this video ("i give it a home run!") I was peaved at

this assclown’s otherwise pointless exercise in favoritism. But further in, i just felt sorry for the asshat; he probably kicked his dog all night after they forced him to do this demeaning segment. Selective “reporting.” There seem to be many internet reports and videos of obstructed view seats at Citi too. Did the Yankees avoid the “cash grab”? I guess the .2 billion they took from the taxpayers doesn’t count because they named it after the old stadium.

I visited the old Yankee stadium once before it closed and I was unimpressed, even a bit disappointed—they closed monument park arbitrarily early that day, had flat soda and no mustard for shitty hotdog. And it was ugly.

I agree

I think if they’d never done the renovation in the 70’s it would have had the same type of charm as Fenway or Wrigley or at least old Tigers Stadium, but the renovation killed any of the “old time” charm and turned the place into a crappy 70’s park that didn’t even have some of the (very few) modern amenities that those places had (like decent parking).

Assclown. Asshat.

LOL! I love it. The perfect vernacular to describe this douchelord!

Anyone watch 1st and 10 today?

Jay Crawford talking about the Citi Field opening, claimed that the Mets are the “mortal opposite of the Yankees” b/c the “immortal Jody Gerut hit the first homerun in Citi Field History” and that “a cloud hangs over the franchise” b/c they lost the final game at Shea and the first game at Citi.

No mention of the immortal Jose Molina hitting the final homerun at Yankee Stadium.

I have only one thing to say:

Who in the hell is Jay Crawford? Seriously. I have no idea.

'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

I think

This guy liked the CitiField burgers so much, he just gorged on those while he was there.

Introducing Buddy Alderson, Sandy's dog, and the newest member of Puppy Avenue!

Embiggen here.
Judging by the comments to Matt Callan’s ode to 1986 Mets: A Year To Remember from a few weeks back, the video has a devoted Mets fan following. Despite being too young to remember anything about that season, it has a special place in my fandom as well. It was part of a two video rotation (Ghostbusters being the other) which ran almost daily on my television for a few years in the early 90s. And it remained a once-in-awhile watch through high school and college.

Unsurprisingly, the physical tape deteriorated over time, and the screen jumps and sound skips made for a less than optimal viewing experience. With sale of the video discontinued, my brother converted it to DVD and gave it to me for Christmas in 2010. See the picture above for the box and DVD. He even created a scene selection function which can be accessed from the main menu. "Get Metsmerized!" plays on loop on the menu screen. It is my favorite Christmas gift ever and is still nice to throw on for a viewing.

"How'd we do it? Mirrors!"
I was flipping through some of my parents' photo albums this afternoon in search of one particular shot of the sign my older sister made for Mets Banner Day back in the late eighties. Though I didn't find that one — I'll post it when I eventually track it down, and I can assure you that it's Keith-themed — but I did stumble upon this wonderful photo of my younger sister's stuffed animal menagerie spread out in front of a glorious rainbow-festooned Mets pennant, also from the late eighties.

She works for the HRC now and was particularly delighted to be reminded of this photo.
