- Adam Dunn has 17 walks in 50 at-bats.

Pitching +43.2, Batting -6.8?
Either our pitching was really dominant or you should flip that minus sign.
Whoops
Though, you’d be surprised how often it happens that one is positive and the other is negative.
I was at the game
And the entire field level engaged in the wave during the top of the 8th inning. I felt sort of embarrassed to be sitting there.
I saw that watching the game with my dad
We were embarrassed for you and ashamed of those around you.

Fuck the fucking Wave.
I actually own a custom-made “Section 525 does not do The Wave” T-shirt.
Following the nonsense that went on during last weekend’s 1-0 Johan win, I realized that I need to get a couple more of them printed up for my friends.
Fuck the Wave.
We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!

I went to a homecoming game at my dads alma matter once
they did a slow motion/robot like wave. now that’s a crime against humanity.
Damn you k-rod!!!
If he pitched a perfect ninth, I would have scored a 100 on the swag contest. I’ll take my 90 though.
90. That ties the highest score ever, as far as I know. Nice work.

as a stats-worshiping junior sabermatrician,
I consider a walk the most thrilling event in baseball and am impressed by Dunn’s performance so far. He really knows how to please a crowd.
17 walks in 50 at bats!!!
Thats damn impressive…pity he doesnt like baseball.
Seriously though it just makes me more annoyed the Mets didnt sign him for the relative peanuts hes getting paid.
Meh
I still contend Dunn’s weaknesses making $10 million a “fair” amount to spend on him at best, and he would have been a marginal upgrade over the situation we have in LF. But I won’t go ranting and raving like I did about it all offseason. I’ll just say that though Fangraphs has had him worth about $10 million in the last couple years, they also have him worth about $35 million over his 6+ year career.

Dunn>>>Sheffield.
Obviously different price ranges. But still.
"I dunno. I never smoked any Astroturf"
-Tug McGraw
Oh absolutely
But as you said, $10 million>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>$400k
Notice I didn’t name names, I said “the situation we have in LF”. Even with Murphy’s antics out there, Dunn wouldn’t have helped much, he just wouldn’t have made that much effort. Dunn’s not athletic enough to make some of those ill-advised dives, but he also doesn’t have the range to keep much in front of him anyway, so it wouldn’t have made much difference.
There were better ways to squeeze an extra win or two out of the lineup. Orlando Hudson on a reasonable one year deal for example. And as far as the short term goes, its not like Dunn would have done wonders for all the problems leaving runners on base. Walks and whifs, we already have a hitter in the lineup doing that, one of the best hitters in the history of the franchise, who also happens to be getting booed at his home park right now.

He's been worth just over 10 million
But most of those years were before the economic crisis and the market bottomed out, he’s certaintly not worth 10 million when a guy like Burrel only got what 8 million? And Abreu only got 6 million.
Also the way I look at it he’s worth ten million over a 0 WAR player, so the question would really be whether he’s worth 10 million over Daniel Murphy/Sheffield/Tatis, which I would say no way.
Exactly
Agreed with everything you said 100%, that’s exactly how I feel/felt about it.
