Something's clearly wrong
and he’s doing the team no favors if he’s pitching through pain.

Good thing we didn't give up any good players for him
Aaron Heilman – 0.82 ERA in 11 IP
Endy Chavez – .305 / .374 / .354 and 5/0 SB/CS
Mike Carp (AAA) – .333 / .410 / .639 and 5 HR in 83 PAs
Ezequiel Carrera (AA) – .358 / .482 / .448 with 4/1 SB/CS in 86 PAs
Obviously, I’m not criticizing the trade, you can’t not make that deal of your Omar. This also doesn’t tell the whole story. Heilman does have a 4.91 FIP and 6/6 K/BB, neither of which are encouraging, and its tough to see Endy maintaining a .343 BABIP . Carp is looking really good though, and Carrera’s looking more and more like at least a future fourth OFer, though there’s not much room for him to be more than that either.

Interesting and something LL noticed recently
This definitely sends up warning signs, but Pf/x says his fastball avg’d 93.27 today, with a max of 95. Compare to April 8th when it was 92.49 and 93.3. Maybe he just needs some time to warm up?
However, March 31st in 2008 his avg fastball was 95+ with a max of almost 97.

Nice homework.
I also wonder if pitch f/x is confusing some splitters for fastballs as it says he only threw one yesterday compared to 20 fastballs.
Regardless, his max yesterday was 95 mph, which at one time in his career was his average.
