Best defender in the NL East: Shane Victorino
Buster Olney, on ESPN's NL East preview. Victorino is a fine fielder, but I think his own teammate Chase Utley, who plays a tougher position, has a claim to this one:
Victorino, 2008
UZR: +8.7
+/-: +9
Utley, 2008
UZR: +19.5
+/-: +49
Or even Carlos Beltran maybe, but it's close
Beltran, 2008
UZR: +7
+/-: +24
Comments
I'll nominate
Cody Ross CF: +14.0 UZR in 2008
Jimmy Rollins SS: +13.5 UZR in 2008
King of the bling come to lay down the evidence//Not George Bush, L-Millz be da president
more importantly
Victorino:
2008 FHGitC/W: 2.897
2008 PtGtRWORP: 3.712 (led the league!)
FHGitC/W = (Fiery Heart Grit in the Clutch / Wins)
PtGtRWORP = Plays the Game the Right Way Over Replacement Player
batting helmets. batting titles. obp.
If it ticks off PETA, it's okay by me.
'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

Correction
I believe they prefer to call themselves “World Fucking Champtions.”

Vic
I love his defense but I’m not sure if I’m ready to elevate him above Beltran just yet.
Victorino is at his career peak so if there’s ever a time to “overrate” him, it’s now.
