Is Feliciano this year's Heilman?
Yes, we are only a swell two games in to the young 2009 campaign, but despite the Mets gaining wins in both games, especially how they got the W's, I do have one concern. That concern lies in the bullpen.
Now I know the majority of the Mets fanbase is thinking and saying, "We got Putz, Green, Frankie, no more Heil-Weis, etc. So why the concern for the 'pen?" Well, friends, I have one reason: Pedro Feliciano. So despite the acquisitions to and subtractions from our relief corps, we still have one hold-over from last-year's atrocity (we haven't seen much from Stokes yet, so for now I won't pass any judgement on him). I worried in the off season that his presence could mean trouble for this year's squadron of relief pitchers and about his performance after being partially a guilty party. My worries were realized during Wednesday night's intense victory. After getting Dickerson swinging at air, he allowed Votto and Phillips to reach base safely before Bruce brought the former in home. It could've been worse had Phillips not been gunned out at second. Still, he made things uneasy for Mets Nation when walking Encarnacion before being pulled.
My overall thought is this: Feliciano scares the holy hell out of me! If his performance tonight is any indication, we could be in for a long season with him on the mound every other game. Yes, I am well aware that it's too early in the season for this. I just have a bad vibe about number 25.

Hey Reyes was around last year, let's trade him
Seriously, one run. Just wait. I hope he’s not too much of a lefty specialist this year, but it’s too early to even tell that.

Actually, it was two runs, both earned.
But in all honesty, I would like to give it some time. Still, that doesn’t mean I don’t have that bad feeling about him. It’s a “hope for the best, yet expect the worst type thing,” you know?
I don't need no instructions to know how to rock!

He does need to improve on last year
But it’s not time to pass judgement.

Sure, anything could happen
Wright could become the next Dick Schofield.
Beltran could become the next Ryan Thompson.
Reyes could become the next Rafael Santana.
So, my vote was no.

We'll see, but too early now.

Feliciano
Relax dude, one game is no indication. Feliciano has been good in the past, and bad in the past, it’s the life of a reliever. You’re going to have a stroke worrying this much this early. If you want to worry about anything, worry about this: The Mets are one key injury (Wright, Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, Santana) away from 4th place. That’s really something to worry about.

Yes, also
David Wright’s on pace to hit 0 HRs.
Johan’s on pace to walk 136, but with 34 wins!
Frankie is going to save 162 games shattering his own record.
Lincecum was a one year fluke…
Yeah, I’m done. I apologize but I can’t stand wFAN-esque knee jerk reactions to small sample sizes and I hold AA in the highest regard.

Way too soon
It is April 9th, the Mets are 2-0 and every pitcher we sent out looked a bit shaky last night. I’m not gonna judge Pedro F’s 2009 season based on one performance simply because he was a member of last years’ bullpen.
'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

The weather was really, really cold last night. Every pitcher was off his game.
I wouldn’t worry either.
