Wagner to start throwing Tuesday
"According to the report, Wagner is aiming to return to the Mets by late July or August, adding, "I told Omar that everybody doubting me is my motivation… that, and getting a ring."
Here are some choice comments from the link:
"Billy would just be blowing the 7th inning. He’s never been able to pitch well in non-save situations. Look at the ASG last year."
"My question is if he is already throwing from the mound then why would it even take until August?"
"You are right that K-Rod will also blow games, but hopefully they won’t be in clutch situations…and hopefully he won’t let a 123 lb Asian man (Seo Taguchi) hit a go ahead home run in the NLCS." This comment slightly offends me, why does being Asian have to be thrown in there and at least spell the man's name right, (Seo is Korean, So is Japanese.) Plus, the baseball reasoning behind this is nonsensical.
"Not for anything, but this statement is part of the reason why this guy rubs people the wrong way. Look, just do your rehab, work hard, and get back as soon as possible. no need to make grandiose statements about your motivation, since, no one really cares what it is so long as you have some. You aren’t Willis Reed, Joe Namath, or even Patrick Ewing. No one is sitting around on pins and needles anxiously awaiting your return."

I hate people
Those comments are depressing.
Glad to hear that Wagner has a chance to come back this year though.

agreed
the front page is the best place to find all relevant Mets news in one place, but the comments are completely worthless.
Also, if Wagner comes back in July or August our bullpen would be like a video game bullpen (admit it, you have all done it – signed 3 or 4 closers and used them all as set up men).

That would be really awesome
Funny thing, I was about to suggest that maybe Wags does tend to struggle in non-save situations, but just to be safe I checked b-ref. Lo and behold, I was wrong. Here’s how they compare:
Save situations
.197/.263/.313, 1.01 WHIP, 4.5 K/BB, 104 tOPS+
Non-save situations
.179/.264/.281, 1.007 WHIP, 3.38 K/BB, 94 tOPS+.
Despite a slightly increased walk rate in non-save situations, Wagner seems to actually have done better when he’s not in to close.
