Poz: "Screw Steve Phillips"*
*well he kinda says that.
Anywho, Steve Phillips' job now is to talk about baseball players and he totally sucks at it. Poz tells us in his usual entertaining way just why Phillips totally sucks.

Poz really gave that softball a ride
In scrolling through the comments, someone posted the transcription of another Steve Phillips’ gem from BBTN, where he talked about Santana’s blame for his lack of run support. Apparently Orel was pretty confused by the whole theory but, hey, SP was in the front office for 13 years! He knows how these things work!
Here’s the link to that comment.
"The definition of edge is going out there and getting a few wins, and then all of a sudden you don’t have to worry about anyone talking about edge anymore," Wright said. "That's a thing in the past. Go ask Omar about that."

Wow
That Phillips-ism might be even worse than his Beltran hatchet job on Sunday night. Yeah Steve, they didn’t hit for Santana on Saturday against the Big Unit.

Another greta comment there (#60)
“CF for the Mets while Phillips was GM: Brian MacRae, Jay Payton, Preston Wilson, Benny Agbayani, Timo Perez, Jason Tyner, Joe McEwing, Alex Escobar, Roger Cedeno, Jeff Duncan and Tsuyoshi Shinjo.” Although I shudder to think of the list at first base this year by the time the season is over.

I just hope
our list of first basemen this year eventually includes another first baseman.
Also, Shinjo had great wristbands. So there’s that.

I didn't remember
Agbayani ever playing anything other than a corner, but according to bb-ref he played 56 innings in center as a Met. Who knew…
Btw, Agbayani put up a 124 & a 123 OPS+ in his first two seasons, followed by a 101 in his third before falling off the face of the earth. I always liked Benny but I didn’t realize he was that good – I wonder what happened to him in 2002.

Oh, sorry. Wrong post.
That was supposed to be on centerpede101’s latest masterpiece, mocking his spelling. But strangely, it somewhat applies here. The piece itself was great, and the peace it gave me was nice as well.
