These deals need to happen now! - Dayn Perry
Monseigneur Perry suggests that Jake Peavy must be traded to the Mets for Fernando Martinez. In the same article, he refers to the Padres' current stretch of winning baseball as a "hot steak". Yum!

DO NOT WANT
I have no legitimate basis for this but I just don’t think Peavy is worth the steep price in prospects + the escalating contract.
Can Dayn go back to doing Spolitcal?
More of that, less of this good-player-on-bad-team-should-be-traded-to-good-team-X stuff. Obviously the Cubs would love to have Brian Roberts. So would 20 other teams.
Dayn Perry has had enough
The Sox are balking because they don’t want to part with Manny Delcarmen, and the Nats are balking because they think they might be able to get more for Johnson closer to the deadline.
Enough with the hesitations.
Good point, Dayn. Both sides have good reasons to hold off on making a deal but, you know, enough already! Really good reporting all around. No point in analyzing why these trades haven’t happened or even speculating on possible compromises. And if Delcarmen is too much for the Red Sox to part with, they should just also throw in Junichi Tazawa as well.
The only reason that trade isn'

Another fictional article
1.) Peavy will not come to New York; even with us picking up his option year.
2.) The Padres (if they are smart) would want much more than F!
3.) The guy makes a nice chunk of change. Is Freddie willing to pick up the tab? I don’t know about that.
If he would come here, the cost was F!, and Wilpon ok’d the truck of money, it should have been done…yesterday.
I think I read an article by this guy once
And then subsequently vowed never to do so again.

I like Peavy a lot
mostly, I think, b/c he looks like he should have played in the 20’s, but I’m not sure I want the Mets giving up what they’d have to give up for him. Though I think fears of a regression from him are overblown – if there’s one park that can suppress homers like Petco, I think Citi Field is it.
