So is this recent?
or is this what he was put on the dl for to begin with?

Yeah this is his initial injury
Which no one in the world believed, for good reason, but it does seem like its legit by now.

Nice excuse
Hopefully it will hold up for awhile.

Rest of the year?
Too bad the Mets can’t have insurance for ‘stupid contracts’ ugh.

I'm not positive
But I imagine they managed to insure at least part of Ollie’s contract.

Wilpon should have just given the $36 million to Bernie Madoff
Same result, quicker and less painless.

I'm assuming insurance does cover this injury, as it wasn't pre-existing.
Perhaps the money “saved” here will allow the team to add a little more payroll if need be.
I’m reaching far for the silver lining in this. Oh, and at least he won’t be pitching!

Yeah that's what I'm thinking
I mean, the Wilpons will still probably be iffy about the luxury tax line, but if anything it’ll be more money to play with once Ollie’s contract comes off the books, by the time that happens the luxury tax threshold will be quite a bit higher anyway.

Yeah it's supposed to get pretty high next season
So I’m hoping the Wilpons will be a little looser with the purse strings.

Yeah
Its a predefined structure. It increases by a certain amount each year that was set by the CBA a few years ago. ESPN says it’ll be $170 mil next year, so that’s a solid $8 mil jump. It’d probably allow the Wilpons to feel comfortable to push payroll to the low $160 million range, if that is indeed their greatest concern. The current CBA only runs through 2011 though. I can’t imagine they’ll shake things up too much though after that anyway.

how long before they resort to
just “disappearing” him?
John Franco is already casing Ollie’s hotel room.

Ollie just wanted to be down in Florida
until the Magic are finished playing.
