those guys are legitamately good writers
but nothing greg said excuses his dumb ass proposal. even if youve detoured into fantasy fan land, i still dont understand why you dont trade the crappy or mediocre guys for other players with the ‘intangibles’ and leave the awesome players on the team.
HELLO HELLO MR WILPON. WE WANT THE MANSION NOT THE CONDO.
If his reasoning really is that it's theraputic and fun to consider completely remaking the team...
…then I’ll have to respectfully COMPLETELY disagree. The idea of trading David Wright, Jose Reyes, and Carlos Beltran, each among the top 3 at their respective positions, for almost anyone is not a fun idea. It is a stupid idea, one that makes me more stressed during times when everyone else is losing their shit around me and I’m just trying to keep the peace and keep people from jumping off buildings. Honestly, i feel if he was as much of a Met fan as he’s claiming he is as opposed to the people who (stupidly) responded aggressively, then he should have more faith and more support in not just the team as a whole, but the core that makes up the proverbial “heartbeat” of this team. Not because they’re iconic or gritty, but because they’re really, really good.

Deep thought:
Do Cardinals fans speculate about trading Albert Pujols whenever that team goes through a bad patch? You know, just for the sake of breaking up the team and changing the atmosphere by getting “grittier” players?
'Oh yes, I know all about that duty-of-a-citizen stuff. It doesn't go. There are exceptions to every rule, and this was one of them. When a man risks his liberty to come and root at a ball-game, you've got to hand it to him. He isn't a crook. He's a fan.'

No no
The Cardinals can only overperform because of Albert. Clearly he’s the only player it works that way for. He gets the all the positive credit when his team wins 86 games. It had nothing to do with surprise performances from the Ryan Ludwicks and Rick Ankiels of the world.

yea
those guys definitely deserve credit. Pujols by himself is probably only capable of winning like 81 games. He needed those other guys for that extra 5 wins.
"This is the beauty of baseball. In basketball, at the end of the game, you want to put the ball in your best scorer's hands. But in baseball, it's up to a rookie like McGlinchy and a journeyman like Franco with the entire season on the line. Baseball history is dotted with names like Al Weis and Brian Doyle, men who have taken their name out of the agate type and placed it into the headlines, because it was simply their time."
The whole thing about Beltran not being tough, clutch, edgy, or whatever is so dumb and infuriates me.
The guy played with a broken face his first season and has been hampered by bad knees/quads pretty much his entire time here. I know people get on him for his daily percentage updates, but at least the dude is being honest.
You can totally tell that his knees/quads are better this year. He’s putting more weight on his back leg and he’s driving the ball through the middle a lot more. BP had him pegged for 26 homers this year, but I think he should hit 30 homers easy, even with Citi Field as his home park. The fact that he was able to work out his legs aggressively, instead of having to rehab, this past offseason is a pretty huge deal.
Funny, I thought AA was throwing pub to FAFIF
