I didn't know Rollins was a fan of being quiet. Maybe next time he should wait until the game is over and his OBP is over .270.

This is the Phillies MO:
Actually celebrating a good play or emotional win is bad and immature (see: Jose Reyes, Fransico Rodriguez).
Mugging and staring down is good, it shows grission (see: Jimmy Rollins’ “shush”; Ryan Howard’s Home Run Stares; Victorino’s 20 second stomp on homeplate).
Did he say something after the game?

I guess it is okay
so long as you don’t smile or high-five anyone. Those things are, like, the antithesis of baseball.

Jimmy Rollins
should be quiet. At least until he is getting on base more frequently than Omir Santos.
The Phillies make it so hard for me to decide who my least favorite player is
some days Victorino takes a huge lead, but then other days Rollins catches up to him. What’s amazing is those two douchenozzles make me almost like guys like Utley and Hamels, just for being lesser douchenozzles.
I dunno.
I think Hamels and Utley need to be in that conversation, just for their inflammatory shit about being the “motherphucking champtions” or whatever, and continuing the whole “Mets=chokers” talking point amongst the media. And you HAVE to include Jayson Werth. Because honestly, he LOOKS like a gigantic douchenozzle. Like just looking at him, you’re like, “Ew.”

the difference for me
is that Utley and Howard are actually really good baseball players. I would kill to have Utley on the Mets. I don’t feel the same about the rest of them.
*Utley and Hamels
I don’t really have strong feelings one way or the other about Howard. I think he’s overrated by the mainstream media, but the backlash against him by the SABR crowd has been a little harsh – he is a very good player.
He is REALLY overrated. Like, incredibly overrated.

He's better than he was last year though

After looking at this picture again
Maybe Rollins is trying to shush the guys on the Phillies’ bench. After all, Jimmy Rollins is a very respectful baseball player and would never want any of his teammates to show up a pitcher by cheering after said pitcher gave up a home run. Only losing baseball players like Jose Reyes celebrate. This is obviously the best and most logical explanation.

Fan of being quiet?
I thought he was picking his nose…
I said this in last night's game thread
But I figured it was worth repeating here.
I’d rather watch players like Victorino and Rollins (two players I hate in a baseball sense) taunt and celebrate than soulless, stodgy assholes like Jorge Posada “play the game the right way”. It’s just more entertaining.
