Mid Summer Classic?
According to Rubin's blog, there are at least 1,216,007 indications that America doesnt actually watch baseball, and instead just swallows all of mainstream media's views on grustle and grission.

Yeah
Even if Manny somehow rallies to finish top three in OF, that would be less of a travesty than Rollins getting elected as the starting SS.
Just proves that Phillies fans will vote no matter what for their guys. I can’t decide whether that’s a good or bad thing.
I think good,
give me a ballot and I’m going to put Reyes even though he doesn’t deserve it. I just wish the MLB set up some kind of skills competition ala Hockey, Basketball and (somewhat) football. Pitch speed competition, relay race, accuracy throwing from the kness, pitcher breaking plates ala hockey, trick competition, which would be won by the ambidextrous Victor Martinez throwing out two runners trying to steal second and third at the same time.
Yeah
I think I agree and would too, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the veracity of the All-Star game.
For ex. its going to annoy me to no end next spring when people are trying to argue that Jimmy Rollins is better than Jose Reyes and one of the things they will cite is: “Rollins started the 2009 All-Star Game and Reyes didnt even make it.”
I can’t think of any better way, but the current way is depressingly flawed.
Hall of Fame arguments
predicated on All Star Game appearances and BBWAA voting for postseason awards are frustrating.

Can we organize a BBWA meeting, sneak in, kidnap all of the writers and replace them with saber-friendly fans and a few writers like Neyer?
Please?

I'm in.
We’ll need ski masks, zip ties, and a large, isolated facility to hold them in.

Us bloggers have thousands of basements handy.
So that last part shouldn’t be a problem. Worst case scenario, we could always use the Nationals’ stadium.

Jimmy Rollins making the All-Star team would officially kill all credibility it had left. If any.

agreed
Yeah it would make me sick to see Rollins and his .217 BA step up to the plate in the 1st inning. They got to take voting out of the fans hands and it is unfortunate.

We really need to
start a VOTE MIGGY T Campaign. The dude is hitting .344 and beats Rollins in just about every statistical category except for steals.
