Wild Speculation
Does anybody think Pedro Martinez will go to the Yankees to be their 8th inning guy?
I think this is likely to happen (the reaction of the fans would/will be interesting, but that discussion probably belongs on a Yankees blog) unless Bruney finds some awesome form - which I cant see happening after two stints on the DL this season.
On a related note, I think he is a scumbag and will boo the sh!t outta him.

I don't know
I voted no fookin way, but I mean I guess if they bowled him over with money he’d probably do it. I just think you don’t turn one of the 5 greatest starting pitchers since World War II into a relief pitcher unless he’s really cool with it. He’s already got a ring, so that won’t be his motivation. Plus, last year he was always awful in the first inning before settling down a bit. Not sure that’s the guy you want in the ’pen.
Also, I really really really really don’t want Pedro Martinez to ever pitch for the Yankees. That would depress me, a lot.

How many seasons...
Do you think he could operate as a starting pitcher (2, 3?)
Given that Pettitte may retire at the end of this season, it is not inconceivable that they will need another starter…
So, with Pettitte gone you could have Martinez, Joba and Hughes battle it out to start and let the “losers” work the bullpen.
I would be perfectly fine with either Martinez, Joba or Hughes as the 8th inning guy.

Booing your own players for no reason
Is awesome. We really do have the most intelligent fans in the world.

Unless I was mistaken and you are speaking of Bruney?
A bit confused… couldn’t tell if you are talking about booing Pedro or Bruney. If it is the latter I apologize. Although Bruney already had his medicine. Bruney, a 6-3 240 pound man got punked by a 5-11 190 pounder, and everybody saw it. Re-reading what you wrote, I am now more certain you were indeed talking about Bruney. Sorry. I thought you meant you would boo Pedro for going to the Yankees.

This is a terrible post
If you just want to poll the audience, use a FanShot. Fanposts are supposed to be for substantive discussion.
And if you boo Pedro, you are simply a bad human being. The guy is one of the greatest pitchers ever to live, and a seemingly nice guy to boot. What kind of jerk would you have to be to boo Petey?

Yep
Trying to figure out why a Mets fan would ever boo Pedro.

this clown is not a Met fan
He’s pretty much the worst kind of sports fan there is: Yankees and Cowboys.
I’m guessing he was a frontrunner whose formative years were the mid-1990s

Ah
that explains the Pedro hate, as well as the comment below.

you just proved my point
You joined up here and in short order:
1. Posted some nonsense.
2. Referred to a long-time AA member a “douche.”
3. Made a couple of lame mom jokes.
Check out the user guidelines here and here. If you can’t follow the simple rules laid out therein, you are not welcome here. This is your only warning.

Wait a moment
You called me a “troll” and a “worst kind of sports fan.”
Also, i did call him a douche because he went nuts about posting a poll in the wrong section.
Thats why. I didnt start the rough stuff.

suggestion: maybe you should lurk for while before posting
Also, Yankees/Cowgirls is a pretty bad combination. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone around these parts who would consider rooting for even one of those teams, so if you’re going to post on AA, your comments better be rational and intelligent.

Rational and intelligent
Right, like you
Let me ask you a question: are you some spotty teen who never met a girl in his life, sitting at home in your parents house, at his parents computer, waiting for your mum to bring home another pack of Dorito’s.
You are one of those socially awkward people who cant carry a conversation with another person for 30 seconds. But, hey, you are a bad ass on this website.

thanks
This is the first time I’ve regretted the recent disappearance of my never-really-deserved banning powers. Do non-sports blogs ever get this kind of nonsensical drive-by troll? I guess DailyKos gets their share, but the frequency we see of this kind of juvenile crap — “Hi, you jerks all suck! What do you mean, I’m not making a contribution to the site?” — seems particular to fan trolling. This is one reason why I find so much of the sports Web totally unreadable.

most political blogs have them in abundance as well
I think female fashion blogs are generally troll free though.

Because Zimmer took a swing at Martinez first
if you watch the video, you see that Zimmer ran up, and Martinez, rather than hit him back, grabbed him and moved him off to the side, away from the brawl. Unfortunately, Zimmer tripped. In the original broadcast, Joe Buck even says as much (and if Joe Buck notices it, it must be true).

No
Zimmer is an old man – not really capable of doing much damage to PM. And he didnt trip, he was thrown to the floor.
Also, why did he point his finger at his head when looking at Posada?
Also, he’s well known as having high stats for hitting batters?
Thats why I hate him.
No question as to his ability.

I voted “Possibly,” but to be honest, I could care less. He fell into a sort of decline after 2005, so he’s already damaged goods, regardless of where he goes.
