Gonna miss the first few innings of this one

off to attend a focus group on beanies. We get free dinner and Adidas swag. I have failed to see the downside at this point.

Anyway, with expectations reasonably dampened, Let’s Go Mets!

is "beanies" slang for something among today's youth?

If not, tell them to bring back the propeller. There’s really no downside to wearing a propeller on your hat.

Mets position players who have been completely injury free this year:

Wright
Santos
Murphy
Tatis
Castillo (wow)
Reed (only outfielder?)

In other, more awesomer news

Ike Davis to AA Binghamton! This is actually very interesting. Either Omar thinks he can help the Mets this year, or maybe he’s trying to show him off for some other teams? Or maybe he was just ready for the next level.

With all this crazy roster movement (i.e. Wily Mo and Javier Valentin being released, the callups and sendowns and DFA’s, etc.), I think you can expect a trade within the next week. I’m smelling DeRosa.

I am demanding a congressional investigation

into the construction of Citifiield. I believe it is atop a nuclear waste dump, Hoffas grave, or an Indian burial ground. That is the only way to explain the injuries. Even the damn umps get hurt there.

lol screw that

redding threw 3 90 mph fastballs right on the outside corner. i bet they overlap on gameday.

he’s expecting junk in the dirt with 2 out and nobody on. pitch to him. he won’t expect seeing strikes on 0-0, 0-1, or 0-2.

Frustration, anyone?

Is anyone frustrated that Omar isn’t trying to acquire a temporary bat somewhere? I do understand that our prospects are worth retaining, but he gets paid a lot of mula to make the best of a precarious situation. Shouldn’t he be doing SOMETHING?

Ollie being Ollie in St Lucie

Through 2 he’s given up 5 runs, 1 earned. He threw a wild pitch in the first that led to a run, and he gave up 4 unearned runs in the second (the kind that aren’t really unearned because Perez gave up like 4 hits after the error).

What I love about these new SNY commercials

They refer so chidingly to other sports networks — MSG, YES, ESPN — despite being inferior to all of them.

by All Shook Down on Jun 22, 2009 7:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You think SNY is inferior to MSG and YES?

For Sportsnite alone, I’d argue it’s not. Even knowing how bad those talking heads shows are.

C’mon, YES is horrendous.

by jasondg on Jun 22, 2009 7:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

YES is better than SNY, IMO

YES has Francesa(who sucks, but he’s still something to watch) and Yankeeography(I don’t watch, but if I were a Yankee fan I probably would).

SNY has Sportsnite, which really isn’t any better than Sportcenter or MLB Tonight.

I was hoping someone would bring up Dunkin Donuts

I considered a full fan post about this but this is probably more appropriate. Anyway, I think they put way too much milk and sugar in their iced coffees. I beg them, “just a tiny bit.” I try anger, passive aggressive behavior, positive reinforcement, etc. Nothing works. Also, the large is very, very large and will give you major problems if you drink the whole thing. Less is more, Dunkin Donuts.

Jerry: “Nice work, Parnell!”
Stokes: “Umm, yeah, skip, I’m Brian Stokes?”
Jerry: “What?”
Stokes: “I’m Brian Stokes.”
Jerry: “Yeah, sure, whatever, that was a way to get the double play there, Green.”
Stokes: “No, skip, I’m, uh . . .”
Jerry: “I’m real happy with that one, Green. Hey, if you see that guy Stonks, tell him I set a whole bunch of dirty drawers in the locker room for him to wash.”

That's where you're wrong sir.

He defied Jerry’s orders to swing away, despite his preference to bunt, by coming up with a covert bouncing ground ball bunt he just employed there.

it’s just that no matter how deep they are, he reflexively points. It’s a funny quirk.

I read a quote from him the other day where his lack of speed was questioned and his response was “I do my best with what God gave me”, slightly misty-eyed. Dude, you are fat as hell and a professional athlete — GOD DIDN’T GIVE YOU THAT.

oh well, and he doesn’t take a pitch, but he is still a decent player. I doubt if he lost 30 pounds he’d be fleet.

But it’d probably help things and then he’d be able to use ‘what God gave him’ as a legit excuse.
