Jon Switzer sent down, A. Reyes up and Sheff's knee
Switzer no longer in bullpen.
Argenis Reyes has been recalled from Buffalo to take his place: We all knew this time would come.
Sheff gets another day off and Evans starts at first. It seems Gary has had a cortisone shot in his knee today.
Apparently Sheffield's knee problem is an inflamed bursa sac. Hopefully he can avoid the DL

I like that Jerry keeps saying
that Sheff is hurt but Sheff keeps saying that he could play. The reasoning for this is obvious, Sheff is hurt and doesn’t want potential suitors scared off during the offseason. I’m will not be surprised if they put Sheff on the DL.

Reyes over Valdez
Why? Very minor difference I realize but I’d really prefer Arheinous not see any action on a team that’s already featured Ramon Martinez, Angel Pagan, Omir Santos, Emil Brown, Marlon Anderson and other assorted scrubs.

This is wierd.
This is really, really wierd. Valdez is better than Argenis. The Mets still don’t have a second lefty. Murphy is getting benched in favor of Tatis when Murphy is breaking out of his slump and Tatis is averaging more than one out per PA.
This organization is unfathombly bad. Jerry is simply retarded. He might be clinically retarded. It’s not unheard of to see people who have good conversational skills and seem lvely but have IQs in the 60s.

You go out of your way to get Valdez from Cleveland...
If Argenis was better, why wasn’t he up before? What is going on with all the roster craziness lately? Is Omar bored? Fighting the urge to make a retarded deal by keeping himself busy?

Argenis had surgery after getting hit in the groin by a batted ball.
He just got back into action and that’s why Valdez was picked up.

That sounds pleasant

It still doesn't make sense
Since Argenis was healthy when Ramon Martinez was called up. Were the Mets really that curious to see if Ramon could have been better than Reyes or Valdez?

That's what I really don't get is Murphy sitting
Murph has been battling and FINALLY getting out of his slump and then boom, he’s on the bench (yes, I pulled a John Madden)

Pat Misch is a lefty
Valdez was DFA’d to make room for an 8th reliever because Willie Jerry blew out the bullpen. Omar just traded for Javier Castillo, who can actually play SS. Why isn’t he being promoted?

Castillo's never end well.

Who would wanna actually give our future pieces AB's?
when we could give them to Tatis and Evans
by Rigsay on Jun 24, 2009 6:04 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Nick Evans
is just as much of “future piece” as Daniel Murphy. Obviously Tatis should be on the bench but I have no prob w/Evans getting a start.

I like Evans more than Murphy...

Should be Evans in LF, Murph at 1b
no reason to try to get Tatis going

That's what I was thinking

Or vice versa
But our asshole manager declared the Murphy in the outfield experiment over.

What the book on Argenis Reyes ?
I’ve heard the name a few times but can’t recall much about him.

Arg
Has actually hit pretty well in AAA this season. I don’t know how. It may just be a small-sample size fluke, but his peripherals are pretty strong.
The problem is that he can’t really play SS.

Yuck
The book on Argenis Reyes is short and entitled, “0 For My Last 25: A Tale of Suckitude”
by David G on Jun 24, 2009 6:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He is technically still 0 for his last 25 right?
If Kielty didn’t ask to get cut, I don’t understand that move. Kielty is better than Reyes. I won’t dare play the race card though, don’t worry.
by David G on Jun 24, 2009 6:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Kielty's an OFer
I don’t see what his situation has to do w/Reyes and Valdez. The team needed a third MI, not another slap hitter at the corners. We have plenty of those.

My bad..
Thought he had played 2nd for some reason. Wishful thinking I guess.

So...
why was Jon Switzer sent down instead of Pat Misch? Yeah Switzer kind of really sucks against right handers but Misch kind of really sucks against everyone.

Regarding Misch
Is he really a better option then Switzer or Bostick. Bostick’s been pretty good in Buffalo and Binghamton.
