Three Of Four: Mets 3, Cardinals 2

I'll have some comments on the game later (i.e. after work). For now I just wanted to give us all a place to rejoice a Johan Santana victory, a Nick "The Stick" clutch GWRBI!, and a three-games-to-one series win that could move the Mets to within a half-game of first if the Rays do their jobs tonight.

Ah, the beauty of a work-at-home day each week.

I just hope the bosses don’t start checking the Mets schedule. It probably wouldn’t take them long to deduce that my days at home suspiciously fall on days that the Mets play before 7pm.

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do

"We have to find a way to play better, there's no doubt. Overall. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody. Offense, defense, pitching -- we have to find a way to play better. The reality of this is, coming here to Pittsburgh and being swept -- personally, I feel embarrassed." -- Carlos Beltran

But...but...but...

the left field experiment is over. :(
Ah well, put Nick in LF just get the kid at bats.

Santana

Really pulled one out. After struggling early he recovered and shut down the Cards offense.
I was worried after the first two innings but after that, all seemed well in Santana’s world.

3 out of 4 against a good team...

with no Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, Sheffield and Maine? Ridiculous…very well done.

My Phoenix brother Nick Evans really did a hell of a job…great to see him back and playing well.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.

No Ollie either

can’t forget Ollie. I mean, he was our big free agent acquisition.

Cerrowned?

Cerrone: Without looking at stats, from your gut, do you feel like he hits well in the clutch, with runners in scoring position, key spots, etc.?

Ryan Richards: From what I recall, he’s done well with runners in scoring position this season. I would imagine his ‘clutch’ splits mirror his overall line pretty closely.

I don’t think Cerrone even realizes what just happened there.

Lol, I had more or less this exact same thought when I read that
I don’t think Cerrone even realizes what just happened there

He probably just thought the guy was being a cop-out

This seems indicative of Cerrone's issue

He can’t fully appreciate the law of non-contradiction because he seems to lack the ability to spot one.

Nothing can get by him; especially in a small room: Mike Francessa

You know there are more nerve endings in your stomach than in your head?

Look it up. Now somebody is gonna say – "I did look it up and it’s wrong. Well, mister, that’s because you looked it up in a book. Next time, try looking it up in your gut.

Every weekday day game..

I try to resist checking the score and watch on Tivo when I get home, but I never can. I always end up taking a long lunch.

Go Rays!!!!

I just hope we can get at least one from the Yanks this weekend.

Just hold till the all star break. After that they get some guys back and can make a run with a relativly easy schedule.

9-4 Rays now!

I don't need no instructions to know how to rock!

can you imagine

having this half-ass team in first at the break?

by DonGately on Jun 25, 2009 10:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If the Mets are in first by the time Delgado, Reyes and Beltran are back,

That would be simply amazing

The Mets hit one ball hard today

and won. That’s awesome and it’s about time they caught a break
