Promotion Time?
Meddler introduced a great Minor League Equivalency Calculator recently that I found really interesting. So, I decided to see if some prospects in our organization were deserving of some promotion time. I'm not saying these four position players are necessarily ready (there are mitigating factors, of course) but I would like these guys to have some consideration. If you have any other suggestions for guys that you think deserve promotion, list them in the comments and I'll put their equivalent lines up here as well.
(Just note that I can not make comparisons with pitchers, as there is only a hitting calculator thus far.)

Nicely done
All of these guys have earned promotion consideration in my mind, the former two out of what they’ve accomplished, the latter two simply because leaving them at their current levels isn’t really telling us anything useful.

And really, Nieuwenhuis should make the jump easily, no problem at all.

Yup
Interesing how similar the MLE’s think the FSL is to the EL for hitters. I imagine its just the opposite for pitchers.

Absolutely, which is why we need to be patient with Holt and Mejia.
Holt had a rough time of it this week, but he’s been injured and made only his second AA start. And in that league…yikes.

Yup
The most impressive thing about what Mejia’s done so far in Double-A has been that it seems like he might have already made a legit adjustment. He didn’t give up any homers in the FSL, but it quickly became clear that wouldn’t be the case in the EL. So he started relying a bit less on contact it seems, and he’s really upped his strikeout totals the last few games. If that holds, man, that says some crazy, crazy things about this kid. If he can maintain it for 10-15 starts or so, he might give F! a run for his money even if F! doesn’t graduate.
As for Holt, the one start doesn’t worry me too much. He hadn’t pitched in a few weeks, and if you’ll remember, his first start of the season in the FSL was similarly brutal, and after that he settled in an pretty much dominated in every start he made after. If he has a few bad ones in a row I’ll start to worry, but for now its fine.
Otherwise, I think it would be an interesting case study in terms of the “jump” from Hi-A to Double-A. It seems like going from FSL to the EL, that might not be a huge jump for hitters, but it might be an even larger one that we’d realize in most cases for pitchers.

Are these their minor league stats?
Or the major league equivalents of their minor league stats?

Looks like
The first row is the actual statline and the second is a translation to the next level up, not the Majors.

I would leave Thole and call him up in September
Seriously, how much is being in Buffalo going to help his development at this point?
I really like him catching Mejia and Holt and anyone who says out of the pit is probably better off.
Nieuwenhuis should be heading to Bingo.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.

Agreed
Thole is rule 5 eligible, and getting him big league experience has to be abonus — and his bat can definitely help — I’m sure he’s already a better hitter than Santos, and I’m optimistic that he could be our backup C next season.
