Actual injury
You can’t just go from being that good to being that bad.

He's got to be hurt
hwhether it be elbow problems, bone spur or whatever. The fastball just isn’t there and the split is moving more akin to a forkball. Since alternating a delivery to allievate pain is a recipe for injuring some other part of him, I would shut him down at this point and call up Holt. Alright, kidding about Holt, he needs to start a couple of games in AA before he’ll be close to is innings count for the year, but man has Holt been lights out, really impressive considering where he was drafted. What was talking about again, oh yeah, call up Thole.
He was drafted the same place Wright was

Yeah, but this kind of high upside
is usually reserved for high school players drafted late, not college players. Since college players have more data to analyze and are more polished, the ones with high upside don’t usually drop to the supplemental round.
Although to show what I know,
I wanted Conor Gillaspie instead of Holt and was slightly disappointed when Holt was selected.
I was hoping for Shooter Hunt
but the Mets seemed to know more than me, and good.
"What position do you play?"
"I bat third."
How about a starter (Niese, Knight or Figgy) and put Redding in the long-relief role
Note: Did not steal that from Cerrone. That was an independent thought.
Yeah, that would be the actually smart idea.
Or maybe Fossum, he’s been good in AAA.

Wait, when did that happen?
I vaguely remember it, but…hmm.

Now it says its his bone spur problem
so he is in fact actually hurt. Apparently, he’s been pitching in pain recently.
I think he's legit hurt.
Unlike Ollie, that sonabitch.

So, he's hurt
and the Mets let him pitch. Because I love my manager Jerry, I bring not facts, but just a “feeling” that this shit has happened before.
To be fair,
I could see JJ making the call here. He has an option for 8.6 mil next season with a 1 mil buyout. If he somehow managed to pitch well, he’s got to figure the Mets would pick that up, if he’s shut down for the season, I can’t see the Mets picking up the option as well as any other team given him that much coming back from surgery and two years of non-JJ peak stuff. With all that said, he should have done something about the problems in the offseason if he knew about it.
Would he have been able to get the bone spur after the trade and still made it to ST?
Maybe he didn’t say anything so the trade could go through?
He should get it operated on,
I doubt the recovery is any longer than six weeks, as he’s a RP and wont’ need to build up strength/endurance as Maine would have last year.
BREAKING NEWS: Reyes has slight hamstring tear
Believe it or not, this injury occurred during the extended spring training game he just played in and is separate and apart from the calf injury. Expect him to be out past the All-Star break.

Here is a graph via fangraphs showing Putz's velocity/usage over the past three years

I think it shows that while Putz’s velocity is down; Jerry used him in many more games in much shorter a time period than he’s been accustomed to. All his very high velocity games came after he had a good bit of time off. It’s too late to change how he has been used but I believe that Jerry is to blame for overusing him so often so early in the year.
