It's Ray Ramirez's stache, right?
Facial hair = grission. It’s time-tested.

Damn straight
I think Jose Valentin had a broken leg that entire great season…

This is irritating
He should’ve had this done weeks ago, when it was obvious to anyone with half a brain and access to WebMD (or Will Carroll’s twitter feed) that Putz was hurt.
Except for Metsblog and the like, who agreed that Putz had trouble getting up for the unclutchy 8th inning.

whoever is in charge of giving players physicals
needs to be fired. this is getting to be re-god damn-diculous.
All of the mets fans hope that we will not see the bad news mets ever again.

There is good news in this
There was a very good chance with a bone spur in the elbow that Tommy John surgery might have been needed. This shows it’s not and he’ll be back in time for stretch run, and presumably a lot more effective than what we’ve seen so far.

If this continues
There may not be a stretch run

awesome
if they knew about the spur in the off-season why wasn’t it taken care of then?

If they knew about the spur in the off-season why did Omar trade for him?

Who knows
But when the news about the bone spur first came out Omar said it was something they had known about and he had had for years.

spur broke off
I wonder is getting the shot made him pain free enough to let loose, and that led to the spur breaking off. I think folks have harshed out a little much on Putz. People don’t know what was going on in his head or his elbow. He has been bad so fans lash out, but he wasn’t necessarily hiding anything from the team.

Agreed
I have a hard time getting on relievers for less than half a season’s worth of work. They just don’t face enough batters to really tell you anything all that predictive. I won’t defend them, but with a guy like Sean Green, who drew many a Mets fans ire early this season, I won’t be so quick to just give up him. And lately, Greenie’s been pretty effective.

This was semi-predictable
He has had elbow issues going back to 2007. Omar chose to ignore this and trade for him anyway. You can argue that his elbow problems in the past were different, but when you are dealing with a pitchers elbow, any problem are troubling and should raise big red flags.

He will almost miss the entire year...
He won’t return until the 3rd week of August the latest and that gives him 5 weeks of healthy pitching if we don’t make the playoffs.
What a huge difference it would have made to have had that surgery in the off season because we would be getting a healthy JJ Putz right about now. I also blame Putz for this because he knew was hurt and yet he still pitched in the WBC. What an idiot.
