Not A Loss: Mets 3, Nationals 1

David Wright: 4-for-5, 2 RBI
Everyone else: 4-for-30, 1 RBI
Brian Stokes cashed in his Omir Santos shirts and finally got in a game. Pitched a scoreless inning. We won't see him again for a week.
Tim Redding was sharp for a change, keeping a solid Nationals lineup in check for six innings.
Omir Santos nightly OBP watch: .286.
I really phoned in this recap. You deserve better. I'll try harder tomorrow.

Lidge just shat himself in LA
no help from a pedro feliz error. Charlie steiner totally blew the call on Ethiers 2 RBI game winner

It's quite likely the Phillies and Marlins will be upset with Jose Reyes...
with the Dodgers celebrating like they won the World Series or something. Damned showboat.

they are giving him platelet rich plasma therapy at the hospital for special surgery. They will calm him down by injecting him with some beltran (pre his embarassed by the Bucs tirade), and then add some eckstein blood for grission.

Nothing gives me more confidence
than the Mets’ training staff giving our franchise SS experimental blood transfusions.

It's not the mets training staff
it’s the doctors at the hospital for special surgery, the premier hospital for these things.
True
and I don’t mean to disparage the good people at HSS as I know their reputation is stellar. Just a kneejerk reaction I suppose.
what bad stuff is IN his blood?
Isn’t that typical sports journalism. “they remove the bad stuff from his blood”.
Like what, the yellow bile, the foul humours? They make it sound like leeching. A couple of sentences might throw some light on it (just google it and crib).
Yay for good pitching!
Boo for outs at third base! Seriously, love the win, but this team cannot afford to run itself out of innings right now.

yep
Ian B and I were sitting along the third base line and were a bit incredulous with the third base outs. but, it’s a win and we’ll take it. hopefully we get to see another win today before I take off back to NY.
Looked like Brad Holt had a nice debut?

Yeah I didn't make it up there
But that seems to be the case. He pitched into the seventh in his first Double-A start, so even if it wasn’t his typical A-ball dominance I’ll certainly take that.

you guys sitting by 3rd base again?
I’m going to the game tonight, I usually get seats down the 3rd base line
yeah
we’re in section 318 tonight. I’m rocking the Voltron tshirt.

ah
I was in section 111, 5th row – my friend lucked into some awesome tickets and I didn’t even have to pay for them. The people a few rows behind me were talking about how crappy Omir is and they were using stats, so for a second I thought maybe they were AA readers, but then they mentioned that Wright has no heart, and I knew they weren’t.
IanB and I
sat in front of these 14-year-old Nats fans who said really great things like “Wright is basically inferior to Zimmerman in every way; he’s the most overrated player in baseball” and “Just throw strikes to this Valdez guy — he’s got only 3 RBI this season!” We resisted the temptation to say anything in response.
I got one comment on the Voltron shirt. Positive feedback appreciated.

Yeah, what the hell Simon??
What am I supposed to tell my son about this kind of effort? Huh?

I know
If you haven’t already done so, this gives you an opportunity to teach him not to count on anyone or anything in life because they’ll all just end up disappointing him.
Did anyone watch Baseball Tonite last night?
Beltran got scolded for not running out for the triple.
I saw that
pissed me off.
