Emil Brown

Really? If Jerry is going to start using Fernando Martinez like a platoon player vs. righties only he needs to be sent down to AAA to get at bats. F! is an every day player and needs to play just as much as Beltran and Wright.

"We have to find a way to play better, there's no doubt. Overall. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody. Offense, defense, pitching -- we have to find a way to play better. The reality of this is, coming here to Pittsburgh and being swept -- personally, I feel embarrassed." -- Carlos Beltran

Also Murphy

Why isn’t he at 1B as Jerry said Murphy will be?

by cuseindahuse on Jun 6, 2009 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

agreed

These two players can’t get better against lefties if they never get a chance to play an entire game against them. Jerry is going to hinder the development of two players if he keeps up this leftie-righty shit.

why the fuck is emil brown in the line up

i hate when jerry tries to get guys thier at bats when they suck.why no F!.if your batting brown why use him second

by JADDENHOPKINS on Jun 6, 2009 6:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Because...

If he put him at the bottom of the lineup the other half of AA would bitch about there being a “black hole” in the 6-7-8 spot.

The 2009 Amazin' Avenue: SCREW K-ROD, SIGN FUENTES! Check it out, K-Rod ERA under 1.00, Fuentes over 5.00. CASTILLO MUST GO! Castillo is hitting .300!! DON'T SIGN SHEFFIELD! Sheffield has been a great signing. OMIR WHO? Omir grand slam! OMIR SUCKS! Omir takes Papelbon deep to win. CASTRO OVER OMIR! Omir drives in every Met run, wins game! EPIC FAIL.

Another Gripe

I heard it on ‘Baseball Tonite’ in the closing seconds about (paraphrasing) “Jerry holding auditions for the 7th inning pitcher”. What happened to using your RPs based on matchups and not jamming pegs into a slot.

by cuseindahuse on Jun 6, 2009 6:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Since Church is going to play RF tomorrow

Is Martinez going to play LF or they gonna sit Sheffield again? I would think that sitting Sheffield twice against the Nationals would be incredibly stupid.

Mejia, 19 years old, first Double-A start. Seven five hit, shutout innings. We may have something pretty special here folks. This kid didn’t even pick up a baseball until he was about 16 and I’m pretty sure he signed for just a five figure bonus.

Luis was on first

Brown hit a fly ball into the gap that the RF misplayed, so he couldn’t catch it, he could only trap it. (He actually did catch it, but the ump missed the call and called it a trap) Luis though it was caught so he ran back to first, and passed Brown, so Brown was out. Then Luis ran to second and was tagged out there.

Another cheap one

According to gameday it was in the short area near the Pesky Pole.

Yes it was

It hit the right side of pesky pole. Foul all the way til it just hit the pole.

Any chance this game is under 2 hours?

We have a little less than 20 minutes to play an inning and a half.

by supermets on Jun 6, 2009 8:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

On the positive side

we have not stranded many runners in scoring position tonight.

Our lineup...

Seems that Sheffield has hit the wall, and Tatis is not same as last year. Omar really has to get a good bat in this lineup, and Emil Brown is not the answer.

Somebody on this thread said it

That Lannan was going to pitch a CG.

Wonder

How Beltran feels after tonights game.

The Sheffield experiment is wearing thin again. He has a little hot streak. He could be a DH, but is not an everyday field player. For this team, he hits cleanup. Wright slides back into the 5th spot for some unknown reason. Don’t you want your two best hitters back to back in an otherwise impotent lineup.

Good thing we claimed Emil Brown. Nice job. There’s a reason other teams discard these players but the Mets and the Wilpon and Minaya Show thinks they can salvage everyone know, b/c they resurrected Tatis last season. Oh, by the way, how’s he looking this year? Yeah, thats what I thought.

Somone explain to me where Cora was? He just got back. If he can’t play two games in a row now, is he really any good to this team? I would have rather seen what our prized prospect could do against Lannan than Emil Brown. I would have rather seen Reed, who at least has been with this team and done some things. Jerry’s decisions make me wonder sometimes if he is just out of his mind or if he just blindly believes what he thinks is going to work every time. I don’t think he looks at stats or has any clue of how to handle players. Who’s the next manager after this clown?

by Stearnsfan12 on Jun 6, 2009 9:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

out of all the manager's in mlb

the only three that i would not take over jerry is manny acta, joe girardi, and fredi gonzalez

by JADDENHOPKINS on Jun 6, 2009 9:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

??

I might take all of them before this clown. Seriously, Acta has nothing to work with. Girardi gets the benefit of the doubt b/c the team payroll is a gazillion. Ok, he’s out then. I think Gonzalez is actually not bad. He has so much youth year in and year out and they compete. Better than Manuel.

Cora and Reed

would have resulted in 7 more runs tonight? John Maine didn’t have it, plain and simple. This team isn’t going to outslug anyone right now. When your pitcher gives up 7 runs in 4 innings, it’s pretty difficult to win the game, regardless of the team behind him.

"What position do you play?"
"I bat third."

agreed

But at the same time, did Jerry set the lineup because he knew Maine was going to get rocked?

I’m late to the party, but dear god, they did not show up tonight. This game ended, what, 2 hours later? 4 double plays, a man named Emil Brown batting 2nd… And they say we’re better than the Pirates…

Good news is, Church coming back together. That’s good news, right?

  1. problem tomorrow was definitely Maine, I forgot to mention that. I echo your statement Preach, if the starting is THAT ineffective, you’re not beating anyone..

HA! An Omir Santos tribute

Give me a break.

Lopez wants it away, and it's hit deep to left center, Andruw Jones on the run, this one has a chance... home run!!, Mike Piazza!, and the Mets lead 3 to 2!!
