One of the better lineups we've seen in recent weeks
by Zwill on Jun 7, 2009 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yea, hopefully this will work and he'll keeps this lineup
even though Jerry likes to bench guys who hit career-high RBIs and the lefty-right matchups

Well we still can't hit
but from a defensive perspective this is a very strong unit, which is especially important w/Livan on the hill. Putting Beltran and Wright b2b is nice to see as well.

Livan still starting in June
We need a great start from him . . .
By the way you guys think Livan and Orlando get an exhibit in cooperstown?
by Delgado on Jun 7, 2009 1:16 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I hope they at least include them in some sort of Eephus pitch exhibit

The Mets have lost every game when I've picked them to win in the Swag contest
Literally. Unfortunately, I picked them to win today :-\

the Mets wouldn’t have won a game yet. What can I say…I’m confident

His hits are directly related to his defense activity
When there are lots of balls towards SS and his defense is required, he gets hits at his ABs
Today he hardly touched the ball, there were many flyouts or balls towards 2B

That was one atrocious at bat for Valdez with a runner on third
Even for him. Infield in, you at least gotta put your bat on the ball. He took two ground ball-ready fastball and swung at an eye-level pitch.
I don’t expect much, but geez that was awful.

I'm not one to jump on the kid for having his struggles...
but the pitch selection has been a disappointment to me. I have to say I was expecting more discipline than what has been shown so far.

He wants to finish the game early, so he can go to the batting cage

To his credit he is gloving it at first
I didn’t think fielding would be a problem, but you don’t know about the throws until a guy has to make them. He’s made the throws, which is the toughest part of playing first I think.

another reason to love our broadcast booth
when they say something wrong, they correct themselves or each other.
when, for instance, joe morgan says the wrong player or says someone’s clearly safe when replays so no, there’s just an awkward silence in the booth for 20 seconds.

Since I had to suffer through that Philips diatribe against the Giants
I find that Gary Keith and Ron are simply the best announcing booth in Baseball. Other than Scully of course

Okay
So I only watched a couple innings of this game. Two questions:
1. Why did Jerry insist on using the three best relievers the team has in a 7-0 win?
2. Why did Jerry apparently say some nonsense about it being “okay” if F! plays just half the time? I heard Gary mention something about that early on, and that is completely unacceptable. I don’t care if you’re facing three lefties in Philly, he needs to be in at least two of those games.
