All-Star Game At Citi Field In 2013
"That's the way it's looking," a source told The Post yesterday. "That also gives Citi Field time to get everything set. The Mets deserve to have an All-Star Game."

most hilarious home run derby ever!
Prince Fielder wins in the final round with a score of 1-0.

perhaps a game of pepper instead
although those warning track shots will be funny to watch.

Nah
Wilmer Flores will win… but he’ll have a total of 2.

If Jerry's still the manager
Maybe we should make it a bunting contest. Who can bunt the ball with the slowest velocity off the bat? I think I’d have to roll with Endy Chavez.

Luis Castillo
Assuming we allow him to take a full swing.

first time ever
seeing instant replay in a home run derby.
"I told him the next time he does that, I’m going to get my blade out and cut him, right on the field. Hey, I’m a gangsta now. You go gangsta on me, I’m gonna have to get you now."

The 1964 game
Lopez wants it away, and it's hit deep to left center, Andruw Jones on the run, this one has a chance... home run!!, Mike Piazza!, and the Mets lead 3 to 2!!

1964
Ron Hunt was the only Met on the roster. National League won 7-4. Johnny Callison was the MVP.

What BS is this?
We haven’t had an AS game since 1964!!!! That was 45 freakin years ago!!!!
Now we have to wait four years after getting a new building?
What kind of crap is this?

I think they should just rotate it. It’s not like preparing for the Olympics. Any city could easily host the All Star festivities.

the next 2 seasons are set
and 2012 an AL squad is due, so unless there’s realignment againt, the mets are in the NL still.
I just hope its not that shithole Fenway park, or at least the idiots in Boston think that’s what it will be. Then again they think everything should be in Boston.

Boston just had one recently
I had thought the Mets were firmed up for one in 2011.
I think the Yankees have had about two or three since the Mets last one in 1964. The way MLB rotates these games is just stupid.

Maybe by 2013 the Dodgers Memorial Stadium will be ready
I don’t care so much about when the damned game is played as long as Dub and Jose play in their Mets jerseys.
Grission and Husart - that is either the non-union Mexican equivelant of "Starsky and Hutch" or the key to winning the World Series.

damn
all the home run derby jokes have been had.
I was talking to my brother about this exact scenario if citi field gets the all star game. how boring and pathetic it was this year… just imagine how many hit the wall.
unless they bring the walls down a few feet or in, which i dont see happening

Nice to see the Mets getting one
after all that “Cathedral of Baseball” bullshit last year.

Wow
Id like to see it, I actually like Citi field (more than my Yanks new hole too).
I don’t think the HR Derby will be too affected. Comerica part had Bobby Abreu of all people hit the most in history at the time. Should be interesting.
Mets deserve it with this place. It wasn;t like they were gonna get it with Shea stadium, so I guess its about time.

Yeah 49 years between All-Star games is ridiculous.
I’m surprised they didn’t award it to the Yankees first.
I don’t get why the Angels got it in 2010, because they hosted it in 1989 and 1967.

I'm surprised they didn't give it to them back to back.
Close one Yankees Stadium and then open another Yankee Stadium. Seems like something MLB would’ve loved to do.
