Ugie's son??

Hopefully, the Mets are so bad, Omar will focus on the IFAs. What now, John Harper?

Hopefully the bonus is enough

to bail Ugueth out of Venezuelan jail.

Does anyone know of

a good article that breaks down the top international talent expected to sign this year?

We rarely get high domestic draft picks

Because we’re usually competitive and sign type A free agents. I hope we continue to spend big on international talent.

Two of the top 10 would be great. Urbina is already signed and I guess we’re rumored to be in on a shortstop named Luis Sardinas as well.

Man

That grand slam Everett hit off him was epic.

Coooooooooool

I’d heard the Mets were high on this kid and were right in there on him, nice to see them dip their toes in the seven figure IFA pool again.

Alright, I like this.

Omar knows what he’s doing in the international market better than all but a few GMs. And the baseball lineage part of it is always a nice sign.

If so, bravo.

Haha

I heard Urbina’s kid throws GASOLINE and his breaking ball CUTS THROUGH the zone.

Aroldis Chapman defected from Cuba

Yeah I saw that

He throws hard, supposedly touches triple digits, but he’s a bit raw. He’s going to get a nice big contract, though he probably should get started in Triple-A. There’s a quote on MLBTradeRumors about how he’d be a good example of what Strasburg might get in Free Agency, though Chapman’s more raw than Stras.

urbina

“Juan Urbina, who has a slender 6-foot-1 frame, throws an 88-89 mph fastball that some scouts say has touched 90-91. With a loose arm and a projectable body, Urbina’a fastball projects as a future plus if not plus-plus pitch. Urbina also has a curveball that could be a future plus offering, with a smooth delivery and a clean follow-through.

One scout called Urbina the best lefthanded pitcher he has seen in Venezuela in the last five years, high praise for a country that produced Martin Perez of the Rangers. Scouts say the Mets are the frontrunners to sign Urbina, whose father is currently serving a 14-year prison sentence in Venezuela for attempted murder. Ugueth Urbina was convicted in March 2007 for the 2005 incident in which he attacked five workers on his farm with a machete and poured gasoline on them"
